Once again seen good and bad on this....I`ve personally never tried the stuff. Anyone tried it and with what results. What brands? putting on some new tires on the touring bike....considering going this way if favorable. Thanks!!!

cbxchris,
Did you use to ride with the HSTA group, Gary Weed, Jim Strudwick etc..? If so, I think I've met you somewhere on route 16 out of Tazwell.

Hey Chris: The only thing tire sealer is good for is making a huge mess when the inevitable happens, the tire has to be repaired or replaced. PJ1 is about the only tire sealer I would recommend. There is one other brand but I can't remember the name right now. It has fiberous materials that actually try to clog the opening. However, it is temporary at the best. BTW, since we are on the subject, do not ever, use tire sealer of any king in a tube type application. It simply doesnt' work.

I wouldn't use tire liquid to balance a tire, that s*hits no good! Use weights, what i do is have the rim balanced without a tire on it,and have them intall the weights on the inside if the rim where when you put the tire on they will be covered by the tire, then balance again with tire, alot of times I've never needed additional weights on the outside of thr tire, or tapped to the rim outside! As far a tire sealers, I've only used a couple of times when i got a flat tire, just used it as temp fix until I bought a new tire! Too dangerous to leave as is!

don't feel comfortable posting my email address--no offense to everyone please, I just hate junk mail. I used to live in Maryland and ride alot with the Virginia HSTA. Now, I'm living in Portland OR.

Wheel weight on the inside??????Boy, Hayawoody, you just blew me away on that one. What do you do to keep centrifugal forces from tearing the weight from the wheel?

A few years ago I bought a new ME-1 front for my bike and the dealer put that crap in it. Seemed to work OK at first.

I got real busy for a while, plus it was winter, so the bike sat for a couple of months.

When I took the bike out the front started to shake under power, then when I let off I got the worst tank-slapper I've ever seen.

The stuff had set up in one spot and hardened. Ruined the tire and almost caused a crash.

I would not put that crap in a wheelbarrow. It's really dangerous.

what about the ball bearing internal balancer things? I wouldn't mind trying it once. I saw some truckers use them.... don't know about on the bikes, but why wouldn't it work?

I am sorry but the site will not let me start a new topic. I did a search for "pair valve" and got NO hits. I am installing a new exhaust and want info on eliminating the pair. thanx.

Another blast from the past
