Those things are freaking schweeeet! Now if Suzuki would just take a few lessons from MV regarding quality welds, attention to detail, treating the bike as a whole instead of a bunch of parts bin parts I would be really happy.
It's kinda like buying a Ferrari folks, it may not be the fastest, it may not be the best handling but there is something else. Exclusivity, the desire to ride a performance machine that you wont see around every corner, you know... style. I mean the newer vettes are more than enough to hand many Ferraris their Asses in a basket but that is really not the sum total of the experience. It's the sounds, the smells, and the way it feels on the road and the beauty of the thing. It's the passion of the engineers and designers that come through in these machines in a way no Japanese Bike ever will, accept maybe our beloved Busa a little bit. But the Busa needs to be sent an Italian finishing school to get the details worked out.
There is more to life and certainly a whole lot more to riding than absolute on the edge handling and straight-line performance (I know this sounds like heresy). Look at Honda as a prime example, for years their bikes have been behind in the power wars, yet they keep on winning, the RC211V is not the fastest bike in MotoGP but it is the best balanced...and it wins...alot. Look at the Busa, there are faster bikes (Maybe) but there are certainly better handling bikes, bikes that stop better, bikes that weigh less, that are more reliable, and bikes that are built better. But do we give a crap about this? No, why... because the Busa is something different, something special, maybe a little more than the sum of it's parts bin parts. So it is for some of these Pseudo Exotics, folks don't buy them to rule the roost, there are other pleasures and rewards to be had with them and that is what the Manufacturer, is all about.
So to say the MV is a POS because it doesn't have the performance of a GSXR750 is sort of missing the point. If you bought an MV Agusta because you thought it was going to be the fastest thing out there then you shouldn't be trusted with your own money. The point of the Agustas, Benellis, and Ducati's to a point isn't just performance, check out the MV website
www.mvagusta.com it becomes quickly apparent that they are focused on more than just performance. Both the Italian version of their site and the US version focus on the Art of the machines and that is where it's at for them. Performance? More than sufficient, looks just amazing.
But like a lot of things in this world, if you have to ask, you just don't get it.
