Just ordered myself a new Dell Studio 17! I did order a Inspiron 17 but am sending it back after being less than impressed with the screen.

Don't ever buy a laptop unless it has a higher end Nvidia or ATI graphics card in it. Your images will look horrible and you definitely won't be able to game on it. The rest of the specs look just fine.

Yeah but the graphics option was $200 more and I don't game. I had opted for the graphics card in my old laptop and I never even used it.

Ok jpowell490 you got me paranoid. I called dell and had them add the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1G to it. It also includes a TV tuner apparently so that will be nice. Also got them to throw in the back lit keyboard.

I will be keeping this laptop for atleast 3 years so I guess its better to have and not need then to need and not have.

I went with the same laptop. Studio xps with blu ray burner and 12 gig of ram and a solid state hard drive. The picture quality is amazing. They will run about anything you can throw at them. Ull love it.

Good choice as your video (gaming or not) will only be as good as the weakest graphics link. The video card is always one of the first things I look at when buying a new PC.
