Looking for an Akrapovic

Ok guys I'm ready to increase the Horsepower on this Beast.I'm looking for a Titanium Akrapovic systems.

Nick, I just put one on. I'm going to dyno at 2 different dynos tomorrow...at noon with Yosh box tuning then again at 3 P.M. on an another 150 Dynojet for comparo purposes.

The differences between my last dyno at 161.5 peak rwhp and what I'm doing tomorrow are the Akra system, BMC air filter, full synthetic 10/30 oil, tx200 at 20 lbs., well-lubed chain, loosely torqued rear axle bolt, 16 tooth front and the PAIR octopus removed.

Last dyno had only the full box cut and Yosh RS-3 race slip-ons. 161.5 rwhp.

What are the bets on my rwhp tomorrow?
I'll guess 169 peak rwhp. 69 is a good number.

Here's hoping you crack the 170 barrier. Yosh cams should add to that nicely. Then the icing will be the dymags and presto! one baddasss 1300.

Hey DP know where I can get a 200 TX25 in street compound...it took me a week to find the last one in US....Thanks!

Make sure you listen to the Ack before you buy it. It's a bit too quiet for my taste...
I like for a pipe to put fear in the competitors hearts when I twist. The Muzzy barks like hell! Oh yea...

Chris I bought three tx25 200s last Fall when I heard they were being replaced. I just put my last one on. I heard that Michelin is continuing the line now, but I haven't inquired yet.

RE AKRA SOUND LEVELS: Yes it's quiet at idle, but when you get rolling it's loud...and under full load at 5 grand and up it screams. It's as loud as anything out there when you're wailing. NOTE: The stickers on my Akra packaging said "RACE" beside the part numbers. I don't know if this is the case with all Akras. Chuck at Cyclestuff may have sent me the race version because he knew that LOUD is important to me. Did anyone else's stickers say "RACE" on them? I know that Akra does build systems for racers only.

C'mon everyone, place your bets on my rwhp this afternoon. I'm going on the same dyno in the same weather as my current 161.5 hp baseline, and in the same weather. I'll be posting the results at around 4 P.M. EST today.

I also bet I keep the stock map. It's been the best map with my mods so far, it's running perfectly now as far as I can tell.

Thanks Jack. Just got back from a second dyno on a different dyno, with a different operator.

165 SAE rwhp, which is much more in line with what Turbo Rick achieved on his with the same mods.

That is a difference of 6 full SAE rwhp between 2 supposedly fully calibrated Dynojet 150s used only one day apart in identical weather conditions.

The first run we pulled on this second dyno was only 162 hp, but by looking at the chart we could see from a big WOW in the line that the tire was slipping like mad.

We cinched down the straps MUCH more tightly and immediately came up with 165 peak SAE rwhp.

The difference was that the tire was slipping badly. Watch for this. Not all dyno operators may be used to horsepower this high and they may not be strapping down hard enough.

In STD measurement, this would have been 170+ rwhp.

The sole difference on the bike between the 2 runs was that I switched gas from high octane non-branded to Shell premium.

TURBO1 says on labusas.og that the fuel could have been the difference. If you want too hear his tech reasons why, you'll have to go to labusas.org.

I talked this with my first dyno guy and he's going to go on line at .ORG to discuss the fuel issue.

He does Super Bikes and says he's had pump fuel variances of up to 7 hp on 170 rwhp Super Bikes.

Did you tune it at all, maybe that will help. I put the Akro and PC2 w/ akro map on last week and I am redynoing tommorrow. I will post my results.

DP per chance was your baseline 161.5 done in the summer? I don't know about Canada but here in New Jersey they pute MTBE in the gas from October to April to reduce emissions. I can tell you from past experience that stuff robs 3-5% hp. Try dynoing again on airplane gas 100 LL. which does not contain MTBE. the extra 6 points of octane won't give more hp if your bike wasn't detonating on 94. It's all in the MTBE crap. try it before slitting your wrists.

OK I'm breathing again, and the veins in my forehead are only showing a little. You guys can see my charts and read my analysis at:

Johnny your comment is interesting. I WAS running cheap but high octane fuel. My dyno tuner asked what I was running and told me to run only Shell Premium. Shell is not high octane, but unlike many premiums, including Sunoco, it does not contain up to 20% ethanol, a corrosive agent according to him.

I certainly am not getting any detonation. The bike runs beautifully.

For those of you who don't want to look at the charts etc. at the URL above, tell me how I, and we Busa owners in general, are supposed to deal with this:

My dyno tuner is a specialist who has dynoed/dynotuned 160 Hayabusas (a mix of stockers and racers.) He states flatly that mine is the strongest Hayabusa with no engine mods (just pipe, filter and box) he's done. He further says, and has authorized me to post this challenge here, that if anybody can beat my numbers on his dyno with a Hayabusa that has no engine mods, their dyno-tuning is free. Call Jeff at Brampton Cycle (905) 791-4011.

DP,
Sorry to here about your numbers not being what you expected. It sounds like his dyno reads low on everything if yours is the strongest he's tested. How is everybody else getting the bigger numbers? I cann't believe that all the other dynos are that far off or your numbers are that low. Have you thought about trying another to get another reading? It is possible his reads different or maybe he operates it different. Operator can make or break readings. Jack.
