looking for Copper/Silver but not available in Y2K

Choice #1 - buy a 99 and make sure the recalls have been completed. No problem with this, the run just great after all recalls.

Choice #2 - buy a y2k and paint with colorite copper/silver paint.

Choice #3 - buy a 2k and replace the plastic with 99 body work. Yet it fits just fine.

The cheapest option here is just to find a copper/silver 99 and ride.

There's a Copper & Silver '99 with 275 miles on it and the recalls are done. I almost bought it. Asking $9500. In Mechanicsburg PA near Harrisburg PA

Ask for Michelle Toth 717-697-3099. Tell her Lyle sent you.

MosesMCT, if I were you I wouldn't buy a copper one fron J. Allen Jensen PhD. I have it on good authority he crashed it and it's screwed up. Buyer beware.

choice#1 buy my coppertop so I can buy my blue /silver Choice #2 buy the copper plastic and sell the color you buy. Choice #3 do what I will most likly do buy the color you want of plastic and have 2 color of plastic at home

Just a suggestion here. I would think if you bought a new red or blue Busa, you would not have trouble finding someone with a copper Busa who would swap body sets even with you. I myself am waiting for a new blue Busa. I really wanted one last summer but could not justify paying more than new money for a used one. New 2000 costs 9,600 and never saw any used for under 10,000 in the NY area.

The best pick, in my humble opinion, is to by the newest 'busa you can afford and order the '99 plastic from dealership or wholesaler. If you can afford a Y2K 'busa that would give you the 12mo warranty for future problems, if any. Provided you don't overmodify to void the warranty or race the bike which would also void the warranty. I too love the copper/silver scheme and would not trade it for any other colour. I would personnally swap between schemes and switch between them like Johnnycheese suggests.

Welcome to the club and I hope you enjoy your Hayabusa as much as most of the persons whom frequent this sight do! :)

Trading my ZX-6 for a Copper/Silver BUSA but color is not avaiable in Y2K model. IN LOVE WITH THAT COLOR; Should I settle for 1999 model (w/ possible recall problems) or buy new 2000 model and have it repainted, if so where could I have it repainted. Any words of wisdom will be appeciated. Thanks.. New Member

Bear, I live in upstate NY. I have never bought a new bike before, but I have been doing business with this place for 10 years. I just asked them for their best price and that was what they told me. I put 1000 down and I should have the bike when every one else does. Anyone in NY interested, I could give you thei number as mine is the only Busa ordered. Maybe they could get another one. Last year they didn't get any, they sell mostly 4 wheelers and snowmobiles.

You guys got me excited with this new bike stuff so I called my guy (wilwerts) and he said that since I paid 9500 out the door(not inc. tax in IL.) He would do the same for a 2000. A red one coming in feb and a blue after that.

I reckon I would have to swap any piece that has the color schema on it. Fill me in on what I'm expecting to change, as I mentioned; have never swaped farrings before.

There have been a couple of members who have done it already and they may be able to offer details. (Don & Nick) It sounded like it was just a matter of removing all fairings, front fender, rear tail piece and gas tanks. The lock on the gas tank needs to be exchanged. Allen bolts, push pull plugs etc Didn't sound like too big of a project from what I remember.

You guys are amazing.. What a great group...
Thanks for all the advice and hope to maybe ride with some of you soon..

Going to go with a new 2YK Busa .. and swap out the plastics for the copper/silver 99.

Anyone want to trade? I reckon that would entail swapping matching helmets too.. hmm...

Of course I would probably need help swapping the plastic since I've never done it before.

Will be expecting BUSA end of January.. so dealer says..

If not, will be looking for a 99 and definitely will be looking some of you up.

Thanks guys..(and gals if present )

If your offer had come a bit earlier I think I could have helped but now I'm set up to trade my 99' copper on the first red Y2K to arrive any day now. You're closer to me than the dealer with my 2000 is too. :(

Which dealers are selling the 2YKs for $9500.. and if it's out of state ( I'm in Texas).. do I still pay for sales tax if I ordered from here and have it shipped? Do they normally throw in a matching helmet, etc?.
