Looking for Free Stuff

I just got the Verizon G zOne Type-V last week after completely killing my old E815. I Like the phone but it literally comes with a dozen ringtones none of which can be considered any good. None of the rings or ringtones can be considered "loud". After many years in the motorsports game, my hearing is not the best;) I've spent a couple hours scouring the internet looking for a good free ringtone source and have yet to find one. I've found that most people defer back to some thumbpay site and everybody wants $10 a month! I have the ability to create ringtones on my PC but they do not offer a cable to link up with my phone.
SO I know there are guys here that know about this stuff and am hoping somebody can and will point me in the right direction. It is much appreciated.

heres a how to taken from a phone forum

1. Open up any .mp3 file in a free music editor program like Audacity (or soundforge ) and clip
out part of the file that you wish to make into a ringtone, keeping it at
about 30 seconds.

2. For best sound keep the .mp3 at 24 bit sample rate, 44khz frequency and
stereo, no need to change any of these attributes.

3. Change the encoder bit rate down to between 48 and 64, then resave the
.mp3 making sure that it is not bigger than 300kb. Anything encoded under
48 bit rate will sound bad and anything over 64 is a waste and the file size
becomes to big.

4. Find your new 30 second .mp3 on your hard drive, make sure you have
file extensions turned on in windows (explorer/tools/folder options) and
then right click the file and change the extension from .mp3 to .mid

5. Open up your email and attach the .mid file, make sure that you have
nothing in the subject or body of the email. Email the file to your phone
at yourphonenumber@vzwpix.com .If you dont subscribe to a call package
from verizon each time you send or recieve something via vwzpix.com you
will be charged 25 cents, still way cheaper than buying ringtones.

6. After you email the .mid file to your phone it may take a couple of minutes
before your phone announces that you have a pix message. Open up your
pix message, play or preview your new ringtone if you want and then just
just save sound. There is no need to rename it or change file extension.

7. Sometimes you will get a message along the lines of "messege cant be
recieved, file is a 100000 bytes", just click view message anyway and
the file will be there.

Tried that and it didn't work. Message was received file was there but there is no option to save it as an accessable file. I called Verizon and they told me I had to buy some software package and cable to do it. Gotta love those money hungry sumbiotches! If you're gonna stick me, stick me once and stick me deep instead of trying to keep me bleeding on a daily basis!
I'm gonna keep trying and keep looking but they've made it harder than it needs to be.

i really hate what verizon does to cripple the phones so they can make a extra dime, cingular ,,,,i mean at&t dont care how many or who from on ringtones.
verizon, wants to stick it to you ever chance they can.
