Lost my virginity

I went out on Friday night for a late evening ride with my cusin who rides a 2004 R1. As we are riding he starts to do wheelies and after a while I started to think if he can why not me. I remembered keep it in first bring it up to 30mph close throttle and crack it open.

Well I took a deep breath and said WTF and started my attempt. Got her up to 30 in first closed throttle and then cracked it open. Like they said it came up (about 3 feet high off the ground) and I crapped myself. I closed the throttle and the bike came down fast and I jerked forward and then back. When I was sprung back I pulled on the throttle again. At this point I looked like a bucking bronco. When I finally got control not only did I have to change my tighty whiteys but I had to change my pants and clean the seat.

I learned my lesson from this and that is not to close the throttle but hold it or ease off. So after riding a bit more that rush of having the busa up was creeping up on me again. Again the WTF feeling came over me and I took a second attempt at it. Now this time I said to myself to just hold the throttle and ease off it. Like they said 30mph in first close and crack. It came up ( about 2 feet) agian but this time I rode it out (for about 30 feet and it slowly came down) and this feeling of ecstacy came over me. I looked down and I had to change my tighty whiteys again not because I craped myself but, you get the idea.

Now everytime I go out I try to atleast do it as many times as the opportuniy presents itself.

I'm hooked and can't stop. What a feeling.

For those who want to try make sure you have your gear on and a friend with you just in case. Please be careful.

Laundromats could make a fortune off new Busa owners!

It IS fun....huh?

It is so easy to do on our bikes....I, too do it often..

But you are right,,don't chop the throttle off mid-wheelie, you will definitely be replacing those fork seals soon!

hmm....tasty. Just be sure to keep that rear brake covered and don't freeze up if the bad juju happens. Three feet isn't a problem...

It's when the bike starts hittin 10:30 or 11 o'clock. Be safe, gear up.

My Gixxer just loves to do wheelies.
I expect to be doing them well by the end of next season.

it's scary to think some of you guys didn't already know hwo to crank wheelies before you got a 'busa.

have fun, be careful.

That reminds me of my first time, I was riding with Cecil Stringer and the same thing happened, only it was not intentional.

That would be me

And I STILL Don't! Part of me wants to for the fun / knowledge and part of me knows that once I do know how I'll continue to do them at any time and place imaginable even when it's not a smart idea...

back when I was young.. about 11-12 my parents had about an acre of land away from the house on top of a hill.. it was just flat ya know.. haha I use to wheelie all over the place on a DR125.. seems I burnt myself out on em'.

also had to mow the "field" every month or so... I always picked out different spots and mowed backwards in a tight circle to make little dead grass circles for a makeshift race track... just wish they'd have let me put some sweet jumps in there.. haha

lots of fun. Me and the other guys in the neighborhood with bikes would always race each other.. was pretty fun.. course we had to change the layout everyweek cuz they got pissed if we killed the grass in one spot.

heard a story about doin wheelies at night with the headlight in the air you are virtualy invisable ! so becareful , and pick when you wheelie ,wisely

also heard another story about a guy who had a chick tellin him to wheelie , yeah he dumped it pretty good !

I did the exact same thing but when it came down hard I hit my visor on the windshield and it blew the pieces off my helmet. But I have to say it was quite a feeling. I think I will practice on another bike before I do it again on my Busa. I just don't want to wreck it. I'd rather get comfy doing it on a dirt bike or something first and then perfect it on my prized possession.

I look at it like this, I can afford that rear tire but man, that front tire is just an extra expense! The more it's up the more miles I get out of it

Disclaimer: I only pull the front up when it's safe.

Disclaimer-disclaimer: No I don't, I pull it up whenever the beast asks me to and wheelie-ing is never safe

Disclaimer #3: Who am I kidding. Everytime I ride it comes up at least a few inches. Gawd I love this bike
