Got my bike back from the shop today .I was noticing that the throttle response seemed a little slow down stairs .The dealer was honost and said they really weren`t sure of the problem. The Suzuki rep stopped by and fixed the problem. It seems the throttle position sensor was out of spec. They attached a switch type device and recalibrated it.All I can say is Holy poop.It pulls like a raped ape from idle up and no more soggy throttle.

Did you see where they connected it? to the ECU or the acutall sensor ? Hmm maybe we got a bad batch of sensors ? maybe... maybe not.

Jeffw, I think it is your dealer and they are blaming thing on suzuki. Here in louisiana I have gotten every part I order for my bike being shipped regular with in one week. My bike fwas hit by a car from behind at a light the first day I got it 4/7/99, one week later i had every part i needed. I order some gaskets the other day and had them sent next day, (clutch cover) sure enough the next day I had it.
But i do have a very defferent dealer ship here in Louisiana, they ask if I wanted to go to suzuki technical training school to work on the busa....I said hell yes...they sent me with there mechanics...no charge. I got a service manual with my bike 4/7/99. And they call me when the bike came in and asked if i would like to put it together and do the test ride and check out....hell yes again. Try another dealer or one of the oem supply houses like mid west action (800-323-0078)
Good luck with your parts. David G.

Can you get more info from the dealer on the throttle fix? I want to tell my dealer exactly what yours did. I know if I walk in there they will know nothing about it. Have you ever noticed how most of the time you know more about the latest Hayabusa stuff than you local dealer? That is true most of the time because of the webpage and mailing list etc etc.

The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) should be adjust after the fuel injectors are synchronized or if you are have the problem stated here.
Procedure:
1. Connect the special tool (mode select switch Suzuki part number 09930-82710 Suzuki's price is $11.55 us dollars) to the dealer mode coupler at the wiring harness, and start the engine. (you can just jumper the plug with a paper clip like on most cars) (The plug is located under the back seat, there are 2 plugs there one with about 6 wires and one with 2 wires, the 2 wire plug is the dealer mode coupler.
2. Adjust the engine rpm to 1150 rpm.
3. Look at the LCD display between the oil light and the FI light. This is the code read out. It should have a C00 displayed with a line bar in front of it. If the bar is in the center of the LCD NO ADJUSTMENT is necessary. If the bar is to the top of the LCD or to the bottom of the LCD it is out of adjustment.
4. To adjust the TPS, loosen the TORX screws and slightly move the sensor till the bar line is in the middle of the LCD display.
5. Tighten the screws to the fix the TPS.
The LCD indicates 0.4sec. /time, and two times show the correct position where it is fixed.

Great info David..... and for everyone else, you can find this info on page 4-30 of your suzuki service manual.... what you don't have one? Yo say it backordered like every other fu*king part for Hayabusa's.

Can you tell I'm a bit upset with the suzuki parts process?

Thanks to David G. for some good stuff. This is what this web site is all about.

Finally checked my tps and it was off.

The dealer mode coupler could only be gotten to under the front seat.

Those torx screws were real fun.

Only took it for a short run after but it seemed smoother down low.

I know we went through this a while ago and it was easy to go back and find the info.

I also have not bought a magazine for two months.

Thanks, Dave, for all the invaluable data. I doubt that my dealer knows any of this stuff so I'll just copy from here and take it with me.

Since I adjusted my tps I've gone over 400 miles. The surprise is that my transmission shifts like a brand new motorcycle should :)

It seems the rpms do not drop immediately. They come down nice and slow and the tranny is as smooth as can be. This is great since I thought I had this notchy, shitty trans.

This bike rides like a magic carpet :)

Now if I can get rid of the 1/2 callous I have on top of my big toe :)
