I hadn't even taken delivery of my Busa back in April yet when I found my way here.
It wasn't even a day later that I made my first (and only to date) mistake of getting the wrong mod (RS3 slip ons instead of a full Hindle system) prior to seeking the collective wisdom from those members here who have a wealth of real world Busa experiance.
Since then, anything that I've done has first been researched here throughly first. Thank you all very much!!
That said; I just recently installed a set of Genmar 1+1/4" risers and, as predicted here by others, noticed a bit of differance in the steering characteristics namely, it's a bit heavier and slower.
My question to the board is, I'd like to drop the front down about a half to 3/4 " to regain my leverage advantage as well as improve the stance of the bike for my heigth (5'9"). I've looked through all kinds of previuosly posted material here and, I am under the impression that I can slide my fork tubes up just until the bottom clamps almost touch the rough edged finish on the fork tube housing. Is this the case??
If so, will the tubes slide up inside my riser bracket past the plastic bushings sitting beneath the riser bracket on top of the fork tubes?? or, do I have to dis-assemble the riser and remove it??
Secondly, what needs to be removed body plastic wise to access the lower clamp bolt heads??
As always, before I get the tools out and start taking things apart that don't need to be, I'm asking for the voice of experiance to please enlighten me prior to this endeavour.
Thanks in advance for all your input, I really truly am greatful for it and, this place as well.

I have an '03 busa and wanted to do the same thing... but couldn't... the top plate is drilled just to fit the shock adjusters through the hole. I'm sure your '04 will have the same promblem.
I'm told the older models have holes large enough to be able to do this.. so try getting a top bar plate off one of these bikes and swapping it out.

Chris, thanks for the reply. I was under the impression that my fork tubes could slide up inside my Genmar riser plate (1+1/4") underneath the top plate. At least that's how it appears.

Here's a couple of pics to further show ways to lower the Bus:

The dogbones for adjusting the height of the rear:

The triple tree with the fork tubes slidding through (lowering the front):

It will decrease the bikes ability to corner... things will scrap, depending on how low you go and how far you lean.

Good Luck & Be Safe!

The Simple answer is yes. You can slide the forks up inside your Genmars. Take your time and be certain to maintain an even height obviously... Shouldn't be too hard, but I dunno...I haven't done it...

Actually, you could slide them tubes right the way up to the underside of the tripple clamp cover. Wont hurt anything. To lower the rear, get some rear dogbones like Cecil shows above... Your good to go!

Thanks Guys, Cecil, that's a beauty you have there

mines an 04 LE in red as well but, I don't have that awesome saddle you do.

Im only going to lower the front about 12mm (1/2" or so) to start. I don't know if I'm going to get the bones or not cause I do run my corners a bit hot as indicated by my tires burn't edges and, lack of chicken strips. I just want to quicken the steering a bit as, adding the Genmar risers slowed it up a tad..
All I need to know now is how much of the body plastic (if any) do I need to remove to get to the lower clamp bolt heads??What is the recommended approach here??
Thanks for your reply's I am truly greatful
