Lucky day

Well folks, after many years of lurking, reading posts on here with quiet envy, I too was able to secure the one thing that can bring us together: the ‘Busa. I rode my ‘94 VFR out to a shop that could do the valve check up, and wouldn’t you know, they had a Hayabusa sitting in the back corner for sale. Got to talking with the guy, did some dealing and came back a few days later to do the paperwork. Anyhoo, I’ll include a pic, and I do have a question to the group: has anyone had good luck buying seat cowls off eBay or anywhere else? I have one on order to swap out the second seat, hopefully it works.

Congrats! What year is it? All the humps for sale on eBay are from China unless they’re used and they fit ok but they don’t always come with all the hardware needed. Pretty inexpensive though.

It’s an 06, I was on the look out for a Gen 2, but couldn’t find one I super liked for the price. Has 11.6k on the odometer, plan on putting a bit more on once it gets a little drier out. Thanks for the heads up on the cowl, won’t be blindsided on the hardware should that issue arise.

nice paint, and welcome!
Hang on...wasn't someone just asking about clear turn signals?

My '14 purchase in 2019 did not include the cowl.
Bought an eBay knockoff - about $50. Upon arrival, the alignment was off where it hooks in underneath (not the latch - that was good), but a little applied hairdryer heat spread the hooks out enough for fitment, then I just left it in the SoCal sun for a summer day. The fitment (tightness of the seams vis a vis the rest of the bike) was spot on 2 years ago when first installed, but now it's getting a bit sloppy. But for $50, I'd get a knockoff again no worries.

And congrats @AgSurfer!

My original hump is starting to need an adjustment as it’s been off and on a zillion times. Have they always been optional equipment? The new ones are but when did that happen? I know yours was used but in addition to the cyclops headlights, to make the defining feature of the Hayabusa (optional) just seems ridiculous.

hi @AgSurfer

:welcome: to the .org with ur nice bike .

but
at very first watch my maintenance schedule in the attachement and follow it line by line
with a big big imperatively view at the clutch´s bolts to avoid what may happen . :banghead:
NO matter if gen1 or gen2 - this issue is the same at both !
even suzuki described that need (imperatively) in both manuals they did NOT glue in the bolts in japan while the clutch was built in up to the latest gen2 model .
what they did was to send a bulletin for ´08 & ´09 to the dealers but suzuki ignored all experiances "from the field" at all busa - ´99 - ´20 !!!!!!

Welcome aboard, can't go wrong with a generation one. Nice looking bike, touring windscreen, you should be very happy.

Please contact Suzuki and buy the hump from them. Comes complete, ready to replace that rear seat. Bike looks naked without it.

Welcome to the ORG. "You will be assimilated".

PS Nice choice on the model you chose..
