Made a change

As some may know from my other post, I totaled my 02se 2 weeks ago. I loved the Busa but since my dealer did not have another one and the SE was my favorite, I made a deal on a 03 silver GSXR1000! I got it for $8500 plus tax...not bad!! Had an 01 1000 before the Busa but the 03 has been improved. I am at 700 miles now and another 300 I can let it rip. The Busa was more comfortable and the torque was great but other than that I am happy with my choice. My Akrapovic full, BMC, PC3, Topgun undertail, Hugger,Zerogravity Dbl Bub.,44 rear sprocket(total $1800) will be at my house this Thursday...I can't wait. Not a wheelie king but after doing wheelies on my Busa, this is cake on the 1000...wow.
I got $6300 from ins. plus I sold my salvaged Busa for $3000 and $700 worth of extras...so it only cost me $800 out of pocket for the new 1000 and all the extras!! I will post some pics when it's all together.
The thing that bothers me the most about not having the Busa is that I'm not a true member on this board. The gixxer board is not the greatest and I only go if I need help. I plan on staying with you guys if that's ok. Atleast it's not the ZX10 or R1...stuck with Suzuki!!!

Well, I'm nobody here anyway but as far as I'm concerned you're welcome here even if you trade the gixxer for a ZX10.

Revlis- You described the 1000 with the 2 words I use...quick and light!!! I have friends that have Busa's and ZX12's, so it will be interesting to see who embarrass who. Once I am done with the mods, I hope to have near 160hp. Not bad for a 370lbs. bike.

You get into the twisties with your boys on their 12's and Busa's and there won't be anymore discussion. You can kiss them all goodbye! They will be looking at your tailight... Ultimate top speed the Busa and the 12 will get you but from the short ride I had on the 1000 you should be able to just leave them in the twisties. Hard to admit from a Busa owner but it's the truth. Have fun keep the shiny side up and remember things are going to happen a lot quicker on the 1000 than the Busa. Don't let it catch you out and don't ride it like a Busa. Push the 1000's bars to tip her in like you did the busa's and you'll land on your head.

I know it's hard to part with the Busa, especially the SE but I think you made a good choice.

It sucks that such a beautiful bike is now in the bone yard but aleast you are alright and you are on another suzuki, but there is no feeling like the torque of that Busa.

Glad you are riding again.  I will be down there sometime.  The BMC filter I ordered still has not come in yet. I might just order it online and cancel the one at the shop.

That sucks...I just sold my BMC. Going to NewOrleans this weekend but plan on being in town the next few weeks. Give me a call when you can make it down.

Blas32...I like the 1K it's just too damn small for me...In two years I'll be buying another bike and it will more than likely be the 1K...Sweet for tricks and lots of speed...You'll be dealing with a lot of Busa's and 12's in the straight line...You will even send them with their head shaking...I don't paly with 1K's I try to cut their heads quick...

I am between Pensacola and Panama City on the Florida panhandle.  I guess you could say I live on an island sort of...fun untill Hurrican season!!

I am 6-3 220 and that was the reason I got rid of my 01 1000 because when I saw a picture of myself on the bike, I looked to big on it.  I traded for the Busa and if I didn't wreck, I would have never traded the bike for anything.  But things happened and the 1000 is the bike I have now and when I ride it I don't think twice about the change.  Another thing I like about the 1000 is that when I wheelie I can see over the top at the balance point.  On the Busa I would have to look from the side which would make the bike pull to one side.  I would not have to worry about that if I could do a stand-up but never could feel comfortable doing one.  Not only does it come up easy but down very soft without even trying!
