So how good is a Magellan roadmate 2000 gps??

And how does it compair to either the Garmin Etrexc or the quest 1 or quest 2?

I know we've done the gps thing to death but not much mention about the roadmate (which is probably not a good thing).

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

NOBODY has a magellan roadmate 2000...

I agree, except on their new web site they don't show it as being made anymore

. I E-Mailed them asking for what is comparable in their new line, OTHER than their New Motorcycle Only $1,200 model

None of the others show what they have other than destinations, restaurants, voice commands, sat radio and cell phone hookups. Which of the last 3, I have NO use for. So, as of today I've been waiting for an answer for 5 days ??

"OH" YEA, all most forgot, Walmart (online) has great prices on Garmin and Roadmate GPS units. But like wise, no real information like the ability to give ETA's, Avg Speed, Dist From, Present Speed and Shortest distance between points and absolutely NO ONE in their stores knows anything about their products

I just looked at Garmins site and the 2720 is still showing. This thing will show you anything you want and will allow for custom points of interest that you create ( speedtraps ..you tell it where the cops usually sit set a warning speed and a distance to the bacon and if you go over the speed you set it lights up beeps and screams for you to look out for pork, redlight cameras, etc...) plus it works with Google earth and has the ability decode real time traffic conditions and re-route you automatically around cluster fugs. The traffic option requires a seperate receiver though. No maps to download ever.

This thing found a mom and pop rock shop in the middle of dump truck kentuckey. (Big Mikes Rock Shop)

A little pricey but well worth it for the additional features it has. Garmins support is A1, my touch screen became a little unreliable and they sent me a new unit in a week..no charge.

Even though I never tried them, I find alot of the Magellan for sale but they are refurbished, especially in Ebay. Thats saying something.

I once had the E-Trex model (black & white screen) and really loved it. Only problem was, it was kind of difficult to see while driving/riding. So I sold it. Now Im saving up for the color version which I find easier on the eyes.
