Men and Woman DOWN...

My prayers go up for these members hurt at the Dragon today. While I am new to this .org I am not new to Hwy 129. I am fortunate enough to live only 30 mins from the Dragon and ride it a couple of times a month. I can tell you from experience a Busa and this road is a dangerous combination. I have ridden many bikes across the Dragon and my first ride on my '05 Busa was unlike any other I had taken. These bikes generate so much speed so quickly you can find yourself in trouble in a hurry. I was riding the Dragon as the sun was setting on Thursday night and was surprised to read today about the accident. If this is your first trip, make several passes at what you feel is a slow speed just to learn the road. The curves tighten up quickly and if you are riding at your limits you will run out of asphault quickly and you are left with a dirt bank, guardrail, cliff or even worse the oncoming traffic. Again, I am sorry to hear about the accident but not surpised in the least...be careful up here and enjoy the roads. The LOA is difficult and if you have not had the pleasure, check out the Cherahala Skyway while you are here. The long sweeping curves and looong straights are much more suited to the Busa's. Have fun while you are here and be safe!

Oh crap!! I was hoping not to hear any stories like this, this year. Prayers sent....
Actually, while at the scene I was informed somebody in the group had gone wide and off the road earlier this morning.  He was alright...just some soreness and bruises most likely.

We're gonna have some pre-ride discussions and splitting up into experience riding categories before any group rides tomorrow or I'm riding solo.
I personally don't mind riding my OWN pace but I have Seen other Riders TRY to PUSH there Limits, just trying to keep up with the Better Riders and...................

PS: Prayers Sent !!!!
+1!!!!!!!!!

I believe that's what happened in this case. Robert was 2-up and passing other fast riders, including Jimmy and RacerV and riding beyond what the bike could handle with the extra weight and his ability...obviously.

Not sure if he is used to riding two-up at that pace or not. But I'll tell ya', when I'm with the wife that kind of riding is not something I would even consider regardless of my skill level. If anyone is going to get hurt due to my poor judgement it's gong to be me and me only!

I really feel bad not only for Jimmy, but Naomi. She was simply a passenger and ends up getting the worst of it. Ride w/in your means everyone.

Has anyone heard an update from Robert and Naomi?

Robert (DadofThree) is a great guy. I have met him a couple times at the track. I hate to hear that this happened to anyone.

.........and Diesel is a BIG guy if I remember right from his pics. I would hate to get hit or run over by that guy.

You all are in my prayers.

How is D03's bike? Did he ride up, or trailer the bike? Does he have a way back home? I'm asking just in case I need to make a trip up with the trailer to take him home.
Robert is fine physically, but I'm sure he feels awful about the whole situation. Surprisingly, he's the only one that didn't get hurt.

Naomi had a broken femur, 4 broken ribs and a ruptured spleen I believe.

Diesel is not Big Diesel, althought he is a big guy at about 6'1", 230.

DO3's bike is totalled. I imagine he will be with Naomi for awhile since he feels responsible...I'm assuming.

I went and picked up Jimmy's bike from the gang at the Phillips and I'm trailering it back to my house in FL. Probably totalled as well.

Hopefully we'll have better luck tomorrow.

BTW, this accident happened on the Cherohala Skyway.

Does Robert have a way to get his bike home?

ah man, im sorry to hear about this, i hope everyone is ok, prayers sent all...

Is Naomi in stable condition?
That is a much better question than what I asked, and to a degree I feel embarrassed that I asked about Robert's ability to get a piece of machinery home.

For some reason I keep thinking and hoping that everyone is fine other than a few bruises and a couple of broken bones. Unfortunately this is not the case. A crash on the Chero normally happens at 55mph or more. Things get nasty, especially with a passenger.

If I remember right, this is where MCMustang went down last year.

Y'all have the latest info - at least from what I've heard this evening.

Both bikes are totaled. Just one look at DO3's and there's no question. Diesel's bike has the frame cracked on the left side; it's gone, too.

PS - MCM went down on 129, just before entering the Dragon; right across from Tapoco Lodge.

Oh no, that's two years in a row.

Is he OK?
I think he was comparing the 2 different accident locations,I dont think he meant Shawn went down again.
Thanks, Paul!

NO!!! MCM DID NOT go down this year! I was trying to say that he didn't go down on the Skyway last year - it was on 129.

Sorry 'bout that!

You guys were beginning to scare me for a moment.

I remember now. It wasn't MCM that crashed on the Chero. I don't remember who it was either though. I just remember that it too was nasty.

I don't understand the harrasment of 129. It seems that the road to watch would be the Skyway.
