micron pipe good/bad

if you want to get the most out of your micron, then take the baffle out and run it with just the end cap on.

haven't you done this yet cbxchris? i'll be very surprised if you haven't.
you'll loose a little torque in the middle from this but you'll gain that much and then some back on the top.
oh yea...don't forget to remap after you do this, at least do it before you make your evaluation. enjoy the new sound also, it'll sound like a busa is supposed to when your done.

i just installed a micron race pipe and im not so sure it was a good move...my bike just seems to have lost somthing.like torque .also got a pc2 but even after uploading the .003 map it still blows flames out of the exhaust on de-celeration. i mean alot of flames . my bike is lowered 3 inches in the back and the front is lowered even with the rear so it doesnt come up easily unless i want it to . well , after i installed the 16 tooth sprocket it throttle wheelied unbelievably but now with the pipe it wont "throttle wheelie" hardly at all . this is a real disappointment to me.i liked my busa quiet but sacrificed it for performance but now i feel its louder and slower .maybe im just crazy...goin on a dyno this week to find out. anyone else have a micron and a comment ??

to stop backfiring you need to plug the P.A.I.R. hose that runs to the airbox.also you need to plug the P.A.I.R. outlet, and the vaccum line at both ends.what happens is with the new exhaust there's no back pressure and its lean therefore you need to keep the P.A.I.R. valve closed.I have a micron w/airbox mod and yosh programer.I have ordered the pc11.but plug the P.A.I.R. off and you should be fine

oh,the pipe is fine it'll out torque any pipe out there, mine has pulled 102ft.lbs and from 5500rpm to 7800 it stayed above 100ft.lbs.HP was 165.

Frank you can`t just run the end cap on a micron. It is all bolted together...the only thing you can do is remove the packing and that cannot be done with a carbon can...it will melt. I have ordered a aluminum can so I can run without any packing when I want. I tried this on the yosh with great results...really wouldn`t ride it any other way. On the yosh you can run the end cap only if desired. I still like the micron better with the PC2 and airbox mod.

busa , thanks for the tip . the fire out the exhaust thing is just attracting to much attn. its going in for a schnitz clutch mod and as much dyno time as it takes until they think thats all the hp they can tune out of it. im probably just expecting too much as usual . dont get me wrong , i love my busa like nothing else , but im going to be ready for the first 12 that pulls up beside me at the track !

The micron is a excellent pipe and I now with the new head pipes am very pleased. I have not dynoed these but the micron feels much stronger than the bike that I have the yosh on.Sounds like the map you have in needs a little tinkering with....mine did.

Are the empty cans way too loud? Will the neighbors complain if you ride at night, the RS3 with race can I have is not that loud at all. At low rpm and coasting along I have yet to wake up anyone in the neighborhood.

Are you really makeing more power or is the sound just grabing your senses and making you think that. Have you run the open can on a Dyno to compare?

The stock bike was so quiet that it was scarry that something that quiet could be that fast.

most likely your neighbors wont like the way your bike will sound after the baffle mod.
but think about a gain you could add to your bike and not spend anything but time to do it.

Yeah its probably a touch loud for some people but I like it like that. I`ve seen to many engines on a superflow dyno ...a baffle of any type will hurt hp on top...thats why no one runs one drag racing...it probably does loose a little in the middle though.

last night the temp. outside dropped into the low 50's maybe high 40's and my bike "came to life" . guess its running to rich ! man it felt strong .ill have this worked out on the dyno this week . i guess the .003 map for the micron isnt right for my bike. i unhooked the p.a.i.r. last night to chill the backfiring on deceleration. ...never rode a wheelie down the interstate before.......

no, it just stopped the deceleration backfiring . it was the cold temps outside that made the mighty busa feel like it was running on steroids. flat-out racing gets it tom. morn. and after a clutch and whatever dyno tuning it takes im sure itll run like that all the time. should have some dyno numbers by thursday and track times by sunday ! want to have chrome plated wheels on it this week but 780.00 is alot comsidering they want my old wheels too.

i went ahead and left the baffle in for the dyno runs. i ride my busa about every day and i think ill appreciate some midrange more than what i would gain on the top end.not to mention im planning on riding down south . florida maybe....i dont want it really loud for that.
maybe ill get some riding in on saturday morn and head up to lafayette . like to check out your "psyco busa" frank.
