Hello everyone, New to the org.

I am interested in getting a gen1 busa, though my budget allows me to get a 05 or 06 model i do not want to miss out great deals on an earlier model (as old as an 03) and use the extra cash on minor mods.

How does the busa handle high mileage? say about 20 to 30k miles?

currently ride a 05 zx-12r, previously owned a bunch of small capacity bikes and worked my way up to a 05 cbr1000rr and a.... 06 busa!

thanks in advance

It depends on how the bike was taken care of from the beginning. If they are well cared for then mileage isn't a issue...

:welcome: to the org. There are a lot of high mileage busa's here. They seem to do well if maintained properly.

There are a lot of guys on here with some really high mileage on there 'Busas. As long as you take care of them, change the oil every 3k with some high quality oil you should be good. I have just below 30k on my '06 LE and it is running just fine. There will always be regular up keep on it, but take care of her and she will take care of you!!

80,000 and counting. :cheerleader:

good ol org never changes does it?

used to browse often when i had my busa, cant wait to ride one again, miss the TORQUE

I have 37,000 and no problems. Use Valvoline 10w-40 motor oil with Suzuki filter every 3,000 miles. No problem.

Owen (Big O) has a Gen1 that's an 03 (?) I think ?

Anyway, he's at 125,000 +/- miles on his. Excellent shape.

The Suzuki Hayabusa: Utterly under-stressed. <-- that's not original material, but a GREAT line I read in an article a few years back.

Here's a pic of my '06 with 22k on her. You can find some truly amazing deals out there right now.

Good luck, yo, and :welcome: to the .oRg

20-30K isn't high. 70,000 and going strong. Still do track days with it. Engine and tranny never been apart.

40K no troubles never even had to adjust the valves. I am not very hard on her though. Down the track a couple of times and a few high speed street races 170+ still feels new. It all depends on how its been treated, look at and talk to the owner and judge what kind of rider he would be. Treated well milage is not an issue

:welcome:
I have over 62,000 miles on my '07 and still running like new. Well taken cared of, of course. Well maintained by HPC "Hyperbike Performance Centers" in Frederick, MD.
Here she is.

My advice is buy as new as you can comfortably afford, and do mods later. The exception is if you know the previous owner. I made the mistake of thinking I could save a few bucks, but ended up spending far more in headaches and repairs than I saved by not taking the advice off these boards. Most people who have these bikes do beat on them, since they are seen as the big bad boy bike. I had an insane amount of issues getting mine going, the first 6 months only had maybe 1 month of riding. Hopefully the big issues are worked out.

That being said, no matter what you buy I would recommend you do a fluid change and check out brake fluid/pads before you even start running her. Regardless :welcome: and once you get something we want pics!:rulez::laugh:

thanks for the feedback guys.

I just missed a 05 with low miles sold real cheap, owner was a middle aged chap who hasnt taken the bike over 120mph!

Will post pics of course, though it will ( or wont )probably take a while to sell off my bike and keep an eye on the second hand busas in the market, Meanwhile ill browse around the site for useful information.
