Modifying top triple clamp to raise forks?

Hey,

I'd like to try raising my forks to help the bike turn quicker. Has anyone enlarged the fork holes in the top triple clamp cover so the legs could come up? I'm a little worried about weakening the bar mounts. Think it would be safe? I know I could go with reapers to get clearance but I like the stock bar height and don't want to shell out $200 for billet.

It won't clear the bars if you try and cut the stock triple tree. Plus even if it would fit by the stock bar mounts, you would have no strength and the bars would probably snap right off!

Strap or Billet Triple Tree are your best bet!

You could have your shocks re-shimed and lowered internally but that would cost more than a triple tree and you couldn't put it back to stock height as easy.

Check your forks but sometimes they aren't bottomed out on the factory triple tree. You might be able to slide your forks up and get maybe another 1/8-1/4"!

Or make a set of risers, make 4 pieces
30mm round aluminium bar, 30mm long, a 10mm hole drilled down the centre
replace your stock bolts with identical bolts but which are 30mm longer, locktite
your original nuts back on and you have an adjustment of 30mm/approx 1" to lower your bike, cost me $36 Aussie

The Reaper risers are not 200 bucks are they. I could have sworn I found them for 27 bucks each size.

I believe they can be found . His handle is Reaper. I have a set, but can't remember the price.
