i've got to take the bike for it's first service in half an hour, i've been up all night so i wouldn't sleep in. check replies when i return.
just add for mr b.... i got what you said earlier, about the o2 sensor, backwards sort of thing. it'll be going back in (strewth, sheesh)
anyway, about the 02 sensor going back in. as you see in the photo, no bungs or grommets have been supplied. can the bung/grommet from the oem be transferred or will it need a new part?
exhaust wrap/bandage. is it okay to use on stainless pipes?.... headers only?...does using a wrap, prevent the heat from radiating onto the oil cooler and water radiator, hence the lower temps spoken of?.....how are you supposed to fasten the bandage/wrap????

the silencer on the r55 is actually 2 separate silencers.

i dont really understand everything your are talking about.
getting your headers and midpipe wrapped is pimp but i dont see any horse or torque gain.

I personally would not wrap the header. The header wrap keeps the moister in and causes your header to deteriorate. Besides, our bikes generally don't over heat. I would recommend getting the header ceramic coated inside and out to keep the heat in the pipe. If you really want to use the header wrap, you can use hose clamps to hold the wrap in place. As for the O2 sensor, what is the bung for in the first photo?

The stainless headers will retain more heat than the oem steel header. You really don't need to wrap them. Just put the 02 sensor on with the stock grommet.

not really sure about the bung. i think it was mentioned / read it somewhere . what i need to know is.: you have to remove the 02 sensor from the original exhaust, therefore, will it bolt strait on to the new pipe. the photo above shows where the sensor goes, but it is not threaded, therefore i am in the dark as to what is needed. i don't want to take the exhaust off, and then have to put it back on because i have not the correct parts.
so i can leave the wrap off: not required. (not using clamps anyway). i don't think its possible to get ceramic coatings in scotland/ britain. can't get anything here.

so all the parts are there. thanks.
:moon: off to bed now.
i see now it does have a thread. no probs now thanks.

That is the O2 bung in the first picture. If it's not threaded you can have it tapped for the O2 thread pitch.

Pics! We want Pics!

is there anything else i should know before fitting the r-55 ? i was watching some 750's with the same system and realised, there is some mechanism in the intermediate pipe. orv at least there was with the gsxr1000. is that right,. i should get a manual.
