Hey there speed freaks

im 6' 260+/- a pound or two

ya ya i know DIET FAT BOY, anyways can someone give me some help on a good starting point on gearing an 08 busa for 1/4 and a little street raceing......i mean riding? i will have broks cluth mod, slammed, A/H exhaust, pc, brocks map, 6-10 over mac arm(prob set up at 6" over), but am clueless on wear to start the gearing headache? thx

I'd start with a 17/45 then it would be an easy swap to a 18 on the street.
That should get you in the ballpark (it will be close to the common 16/42)

I'm a big guy like you 250 suited I run 17 50 and it perfect.
You can't 60 foot with the gearing these guy run as you can see they are not drag racers like we are. The 08 doesn't have enought hp to 60 foot us big guys so we need gearing. I can now 1.5? 60 foot and have 6.2's in the 1/8 mile at 114 this is at an elavation of about 3500 ft up in the mountains. So don't be scared to gear your bike.
If all else fails go to the track and count the teeth on the fast guys bikes that are as big as you and you'll see it aint the crap these guys are telling yoy.

16/43 is not the way to go on the 08 Gen II

2007 Busa and Im 5'8 and 210 suited. Was running 17/43t then changed to 17/45t...still have 1.7 for best 60ft. With the 45t and the ultra clutch mod I could launch much better with NO bog. Need more seat time to play with launching R's.

you dont want to go to a 18t front sprocket unless you plan on doingtop end runs. I would go like 16/42 but its going to depend on your rigind style

Thx bro, thats what i wanted......the no BULL$H!T answer from a guy my size I could careless about freeway riding, twistie, and gas milage, i want to be geared for best ET times......WHAT THE BUSA WAS MADE FOR......imo

If you want the best et, run 16/45 run it in 5 gears. your speed will be down a bit, but it will help et the most. i ran it at 230 on a 02 best of 1.51 9.79 139mph should be about the same or better 4 u on a 08 with the extra weight

The "typical" 17/43 is 2.53..(18/45 is 2.50) you then get the an easy to change setup that you can race or take a Sunday ride on..

Looks like a nice compromise to me...

Thx Fella's for ALL THE HELP......I went to 17/45, Still does not feel like enough gear! Was thinking of dropping it another -1 on the counter? Anyone know of or have heard of any problems with running -2 (16) on the 08's? Any problems to look out for with chain?
BTW, i am running a mac alumi pro arm(dont think that makes a difference but.....) Thx in advance
