Morning tire swap

After riding on cords for some 200 miles after last Sunday's wonderful ride, I thought I'd get a new tire. My special order Diablo 190 came in so it's off to the tire mounting shop. Yeah, this will be boring like in-laws vacation slide shows.... you DO remember slides don't you. Here's a pic of my tire. It's showing cords half way around the whole tire and the other half looks like flaked rubber ready to fall off revealing more cords. My daily ritual has been to foot pump more air into it until my new tire comes in. Every night it drops down to about 5 PSI. So I pumped it up and rode to the cycle place.

This kind gentleman seems pretty enthusiastic to take my money and install a new tire for me. Okay, I'll let him. I examine the thickness at the center point in the tire... yeah, my old one was almost thru... it's not thick like my head. Mental note: don't ride down to cords next time. I got a 190 this time to see if this Diablo feels more stable than the 180 did above 140 [closed rider track, professional rider]

mmmmmm nothing better, knowing you got new, fresh rubber to play around on. I seem to change a tire(s) with every oil change. Front good for 2 back tires. Next up is the Michelin Pilot POWER is they ever actually arrive in the USA, and are street tires. The HPX is sold out almost everywhere, so I think POWER's are coming soon. Just look at her posing in the morning sunlight! Is there anything nicer to see? Just begging to be broken in for 100 miles and then let free to roam wildly on the prarie.

.... and 30 miles later, she's heated and pushed to the edge.

By the time I got home, only have 50 left! Tomorrow she'll be good to go!

I'm thinkin' about puttin' on a set of Diablo skins soon. Let me know how the 190 works out for ya today. I may even go with a 200 since the original busa tire is actually a "198"...

BT i was going to get the 200 also but it cost quite abit more so i got the 190
shipped for $139 from ronayers.com

feel like it turns in abit quicker but that could be from the profile but other that that it feels the same

The jury is back already and it doesn't look good! The 180's DEFINITELY turn easier than the 190's. I put on a 190 on back [see above] finished the break in period and let rip. It has that good ol' "stays upright and flys" busa feel, but turning takes more work now. I really didn't think that 10 extra mill would be a big deal but it is noticable. The new ruber sticks and stays in a turn but requires more effort to get her over there. This is what I want. I'm okay turnign on any tire, but it's up at the high speeds where the 180 seemed less planted and stable, specifically 140 indicated for some reason. The Diablo 190 still turns fine, but it requries more pushing. Personally, I'll never go to a 200. Too much compromise for me: loss or turn, more upright. Now I can't wait to hit some twisties and get my 190 groove back!
