Motor vibration @ 95mph & up??

Ive noticed that up to 93mhp my motor is smooth as glass. But when I reach 95 & up I feel the motor cane. Is it just the power band going to the higher revs or ??? Any input would be much appericated! My 79 Honda CBX was smooth all the time! It's been like this since day 1 so! Could just be me! LOL

95-100 and it goes away, smoothe after that.I think my 12 gets buzzy about 80-85,about the same, maybe not quite as bad. Then they are smoothe all the way up to red line.harmonics ,no worries.

Hayawiz,it isn't just you. All Busas have a minor vibration point at or near 4500 rpm.Around 90mph. It should go away for good by 5000 rpm. Ignore it; it won't hurt anything.

You can't compare a 4 cylinder like the Busa with an inline six like the CBX for smoothness. An inline six is one of the smoothest of all possible configurations. The CBX engine has the edge on smoothness and beauty, but the Busa rules everywhere else.

I found that the vibration we're talking about almost completely dissapered when i fitted the akrapovic... yet another good reason to buy one

I have a 2000 Busa with about 650 miles on it. It has just had its initial service. I am continuing to experience a vibration in the throttle that becomes "hand numbing" after about 50 miles. Is anyone else experiencing this and, if so, is there a remedy. It literally is a pain in the hand.

Thanks.

To all you "Newbies" who obviously weren't members last year when I posted the same reply.......WELCOME.
The vibration you are feeling is @ 4700rpm approx which is where most countries perform their CO2 tests......so the EMU is programed to be extra lean here.....the vibration is a side effect.....it goes when you reach 5000rpm (or at least it should).
Don't worry about it....ENJOY.

Well Dr. NIck, It's a bit like a Muzzy, or a YoshI only the Yoshi is more yummy, though I'm probably biased. Hayawiz, kick it down a cog and ride her up to the max. A little vibration in the hand is gonna be the least of your worries.

There IS a patch of mild vibration at 4700 rpm. Personally, I quite like it, gives the bike a kind of raw feel, stops it being too antiseptic (race cans help here, too!)

I don't believe Dirty Pete's explaination (no offence!).

I think the vibration is due to resonance of the frame and cycle parts. I remember reading that the Hayabusa Engine is bolted solidly in the frame. This is only ever done with inherently smooth engines, sixes, (like the CBX), and counterbalanced fours.

A rigidly mounted parallel twin, or a four without counterbalancing (unless it had a balanced crank) - would probably crack the frame eventually.

Even so, manufacturers generally still use some form of partial rubber mounting. The Hayabusa does not, in order to gain more rigidity of the frame.

Although the counterbalancing does a great job of killing the vibes, there will always be one rpm point where there is resonance, and the vibration can be felt.

Bob, the vibration should lessen as you get more miles. I am assuming you wear gloves. If not, by all means get some. You might check to see that your top clamp hold-down screws are not too tight. If they are too tight, the rubber mounts won't work. I believe 14 lb. ft. is the desired figure.

Another thought is that if you are still using stock bars, your hands are taking a lot of pressure. Higher bars really help to get some of the weight off your wrists and on your butt. Helis help a lot, and GenMars help a little. Try the helis and I predict your problems will decrease if not totally disappear.

Mine has that slight vibration somewhere between 4200 and 4800/4900 as well. It doesn't bother me unless it happens to be the speed I'm crusing at. I either go faster or shift up a gear.

Personally I like the vibration especially at the base of the tank right where it gets yer....perhaps this is why I got NumbNuts????????
It gets real good at 190mph...
hee hee :)

Yep, it's on a low boil there. That's why when I ride tucked on the freeway, I always seem to be going 110 if I don't pay attention to it. It likes to go 110, not 90. Fuggin' speed limits!

Same thing happened on mine. It was more noticable during the first 500 miles, at about 4500 rpm. Then it got much smoother.I have over 1000 miles on the bike and although it still feels a little "buzzy" at around 4500 rpm, it's hardly noticable.

Dr Nick, Akrapovic is a maker of performance exhaust systems. For the Busa, an aftermarket pipe is kind of a waste of money IMHO; might as well go the extra mile and put a turbo on it.
