Mototeck Customer Service SUCKS!!!

SpeedGeek

Never Forgotten
I got in on the group buy last year when several of us bought the Mototeck Undertail.  At that time the service was so-so... It took me 6 weeks to get mine *shrug*

I got it and, like others the tail lights SUCKED - they flickered and shorted and were unreliable.  I did some self fixing to make it all work because I saw others were taking forever to get parts replaced.

So... This year I get tired of the dim, lame standard LED's and pony up the $92 including shipping to get the 48 LED replacement lights.  The housing is configured differently to accomodate the larger 48 LED bulbs - the 1157 socket is centered in the light housing and there isn't the small turn signal light bulb.

First, I ordered off their website in October, paid w/ PayPal and payment was accepted the next day. My online order went into "Being processed" status.  Fast forward 4 days and I still have no info on my order and status hasn't changed.  After multiple phone calls and emails I get in contact with a gentleman who "checks into it", verifies my payment has been received, and assures me my order will be shipped out the next day and I will receive shipping info in email.  3 days go by and nothing, so I call again and get a very nice lady that remembers verifying my payment and assures me again my order will be shipped.  It gets shipped the next day yada yada yada...

Almost 2 weeks later I get my order. This was last Friday.  I opened the package and behold:  The right Light ASSEMBLY, but the WRONG LED'S!!!  They are 11 LED bulbs and not the 48 LED's.  I say screw it, I'll have them ship the right bulbs and I will install the light assemblies.  I install the lights only to find that one of the 11 LED bulbs is BROKEN!!!!  It is loose at the "joint" and has twisted so as to break the wiring inside the bulb!  Also, in the process of taking off my undertail to swap the light assemblies and install load resistors to control the flash rate, I break the tiny crappy wire off the right turn signal (6 LED board for the turn signal.)  I attempt to solder it, but of course it doesn't work and I have a destroyed/useless turn signal LED. Sooooo....

I immediately EMAILED Mototeck via their website (WHAT A JOKE!! Of all the emails I have sent them which included my email and cell number, they have NEVER ONCE got back to me).  I Also left them a voice mail message stating the problem with the incorrect and broken LED bulbs.  I also let them know that I would need a replacement turn signal 6LED board (between us, I didn't expect it for free, but it would be a great gesture after all the BS I have gone through.)  Mind you, this was last Friday.

I have since emailed them 2 more times and called them every day.  The voice greeting on their phone has been in French and then an English greeting.... until today.  Now when I call them it is only in French, and I can "guess" and press 1, or zero, but it just hangs up on me.

After a month of BS, my Busa is sitting in the garage still apart (we all know how fun it is to fit an undertail, so I only want to it ONCE...) with no right turn signal (my fault but honestly it was soldered like crap in the first place!) wrong/broken LED's and I'm out $92.

What a JOKE!  I will NOT ever, EVER, HELL FREEZE OVER - EVER order from them again.

I'll likely buy the 48 LED bulbs from Radiantz (ANOTHER $50!) and either build my own or modify the turn signals so I don't have to use Mototeck's crap.

I'm not one to bash a company, but good gawd.... this is HORRIBLE service and has been since day one.

i had a similar experience. i ordered from another company but mototeck was slow with then so they were slow with me. i got my undertail after about 2 months and even then the place i got it ended up finding another shop in the us and just bought that one and gave it to me. it gets here and it was all good for about an hour. i went on a ride and when i got back right blinker no workie. well one of the two lights on the right blinker no workie and then the next day the otherone went too. so now i have no right blinker. called left message nothing. don't know what im going to do. so all in all SPEEDGEEK i had the same problem bro. if you find a way to fix your blinker pm me. i would like to get those 48 leds as well you say someone on the board can get them?

i had issues with the 48 leds going out on me but they addressed the problem right away and sent me new ones, got them the same week. those went out and they sent me a new set again the same week of my complaint.

...

What ever happened to that guy that set up the group buy on those things? Looks like he got what he wanted out of us and jammed!

Wow, I had great customer service with Mototeck...they initially sent me the wrong color undertail, made a call and they shipped out the right one that same day, before even getting the first one back...I didn't like the clear lens covers, so they shipped a bunch of colors to me, no charge, along with some extra goodies...

Hate to hear it; I recommend that company often based on what experiences I had...

Same deal here. The housing is poorley designed. The bulb hardly contacts the housing. I had to wedge 2 small pices of index card in between the bulb and housing to prevent the lights having different brightness's. I e-mailed them and they said unles its batch # XXXXX We will not replace it. They also said they cant be responisble for a voltage problem. They asked for my invocie #. Not like they couldnt look it up with my E-mail as it was the same E-mail I used to place the order. (idiots). I replied with the invoice number and guess what no response. I stopped there and just made due with what I had. The freakin lights flicker when the motor is running all the time.
It should have been a screw in desgin like a regular light bul

Called again today. Same French recording on their voice mail. I've received no email or phone replies from them yet.

They at least OWE me the correct 48 LED bulbs! I paid for them, and I'd say $92 is plenty!

Anyone speak French and can tell me what the hell she is saying? It would be nice to know if they are on vacation until January. LOL!

"SPEED"...PM Gofaster, he had the same prob's with Mototek as he has the same deal going on. Somewhere, they got it right as I haven't seen his tail-lights flicker now in quite a while. I NEVER see his turn signals, but at night on desert highways, he's a beacon....."now".....

By the way RED, I'm glad I'm not alone in keeping the stock rear. I saw Devil Dog's (Vinny's)shaved fender and thought that it looked REAL good.....he kept all the stock lighting in place, just shaved the fender mostly off......

For now, I'm STILL runnin' the full rear. I certainly do like having all that flashing going on, when indicating lane changes, and a big red brake light too !!!!

And I agree...for me anyway the rear looks great as is...is very well made, and has very visible brake/blinkers......which are VERY important(for me) from a safety standpoint. And if you've ever rode in the wet the mudflap actually comes in damn handy
winkold.gif
I won't be cutting mine off anytime soon. Personally I'd rather spend my money on performance mods that make a diff in the fun factor.....but thats just me. I can understand a little bling as well

Go to autoillumination.com, they have everything you need in lighting. Sorry to hear you guys had so much trouble with those undertails, I had a Hotbodies, never had a bit of trouble with it. I followed that thread and was thinking about getting one back then, something told me to wait. Glad I did.

I have the UFO and the LED's that came with it pretty much sucked.. I went with the Autoilumination bulbs ($25 each)

I have the 48 LED taillights. One of the two rear bulbs had the whole center section burnt out. The bulb was returned, but Mototeck wouldn't send another 48 LED bulb until they received the problem bulb back. It took forever.

I had a problem with the 48LED bulbs connecting correctly once in place. It appears that the 48 LED bulbs are fairly heavy and can sit in the sockets at an angle and lose contact. My taillights would flicker when I was riding. Racer's Edge, out here in Las Vegas, soldered the ground straight to the base of the light bulbs. It worked for about half a day
rock.gif
We finally soldered all of the contacts to the new bulbs and it worked.

About a week later, I took off all fairings including the tail section. I put everything back together and the left blinker wasn't working. I thought that I was going to go nuts
banghead.gif
It turned out that when I took off the tail section of the fairing, I broke the wire off to the left turn signal. It was a simple soldering job
wowold.gif

Now everything is working great and it looks good
ThumbsUp.gif
, but it was probably a total of eight months from start to finish of sending stuff back and forth and getting the taillights to sit in properly.
