Well I finally got tired of being wet from the rain and snow six months out of every year where I can't ride. We just wish for a day when the roads are reasonably dry so we can get out for a short ride. Any how we're moving to Phoenix Az. area where we know the skies are blue most of the time. Looking forward to meeting the Busa riders in that area. By the way, can any of the Busa riders tell me whats going on in the Phoenix area.

Good luck on the move. You'll have to get those cooling mods for the AZ summers. Wishin for some warmth here.

Yeah, we'll have to figure out a way to keep her cool, that's for sure.

Cool, when you lookin to move? Don't wait too long, moving in the summer sucks (been there, hated that). Any idea what part? I'm in Chandler, right near Firebird Raceway...

Welcome! I'm in Apache Junction (East Mesa). Where are yo moving to? And what do you want to know?

My favorite ride around here is Canyon Lake / Tortilla Flats.

Hey Guys, thanks for the responses. We'll hopefully be moving in April. Right now we're looking for a home in the Suprise, Apache Junction, Mesa, Glendale areas. Lots to do with moving and all. Plus, my wife and I have both got to find jobs. Really looking forward to the move though, and we'll be glad to get away from the winters up here in Oregon. Looks like we should be able to find a pretty nice home for a pretty good price there in the "greater" Phoenix area some where. Any idea on what the jobs situation is there. Thanks again...:)

Congrats on the move Copperone. I'm not from Ariz., but I have a friend that lives in Tuscon. Visited Phoenix on my way to Laguna last year and I have to say one thing..."Phoenix is a beautiful city." I wouldn't mind living there myself. I would just have to get used to the sweltering temps out there though. I was at a gas station at 10:00pm one night and the temp was 105 degrees. Can you believe that poop?

It gets pretty hot down here in Louisiana, but nothing like that. The biggest difference is that Ariz. has a dry heat while it's real humid here in La. Good luck. BTW, what kind of work do you do? I work for ConocoPhillips and one of our offices is headquartered there. We are in the oil refining and energy business. Can't promise you anything, but I do know that the hiring freeze is over since the beginning of the merger. I could at least get your name passed along.

Hey Bacharles, thanks for the good words. I've done a lot of things in my life. Marine Corps for 22 years in leadership postions. Supply and logistics most of that time. Have worked as a police officer, and probation officer since retiring from the Marine Corps. But the last 12 years, I have been driving an 18 wheeler. Guess I can do just about anything. I have 140 college credits. Anyhow, I don't know if this is going to add up to a good job in Phoenix, but we're hoping for the best. We're really looking forward to the change. No for terrible winters, at least it won't be raining every day.

i moved to the NW, from Gilbert, the only thing i miss there is the weather and Fort McDowell. one day when i retire will move back forsure. Good luck with your new start

Right now we're looking for a home in the Suprise, Apache Junction, Mesa, Glendale areas.
I lived in Scottsdale for five years, moving to California in 1999. I love the area because homes are relatively cheap as well as the standard of living, but after four years I couldn't take the heat anymore.

I lived in a very nice area, lived in a very nice house, and had a very large diving pool. When it is 110-117 degrees outside for eight months out of the year even at night, you don't want to be outdoors much, even with a swimming pool whose water temperture is in the 90's. At least I didn't.

It gets up to 115 degrees where I live now in Northern CA in the summer. I'm moving to Seattle once I finish school.

Glendale is in the Phoenix Metro area, so homes are more expensive, but you would be close to work assuming you worked in the Phoenix area. Apache Junction is far east at the edge of civilazation. Land is cheap, so they are building very affordable homes like crazy. The problem is that traffic really sucks because the highways are jammed packed, because so many people live out that way. It will take you about an hour to drive into Phoenix during rush hour, and when it is HOT, it sucks more.

There is also no real public transportation. Because the air is so dry, the sun just burns your skin and the air burns your throat. You won't be so eager to jump on your Busa for a ride. I owned a convertible, but I never dropped the top from May to October, too hot, not even at night because at midnight it is still in the 100's.

When you hear the expression "Hot as Hell" you know you are in Phoenix.

Lot's of people live there, so maybe you will Love it.

I know it's hot in Phoenix. I've spent a lot of time there with my work. I just hoping we'll be able to deal with it. We'll just have to give it a try. I can't afford California home prices and the cost of living. At least when it gets hot, we can run over to San Diego for the week end once in a while. Thank God for air conditioning... I am just sick of the crap weather here in Southern Oregon for six months of the year. In Phoenix we can buy a pretty nice home, like we want, for between 130,000 and 150,000 or maybe even less. Thankis for all the input.

Geez Sane, I thought I loved it here, after reading your post I think I want to move!

Copper, it's beautiful out here. I live in a little county island in far east Mesa with an Apache Junction mailing address. Not hard to find work if you're willing to work.

Freeways are super deluxe out here and they're building more all the time. AJ to Phoenix is 30 minutes (10 on the Busa!
wink.gif
) Definately more during rush hour but they are completing a new loop out here that should reduce that.

1500-1800 foot homes in the 150's (educated guess)

Sure is hot, and the first 5 years will make you or break you.

Bike riding all year!

As mentioned, 90 degrees at midnight makes for some great riding.

CYA Soon!

I really like the area, since it is a five hour drive to San Diego where I spent many weekends, five hours to L.A., and six hours to Vegas.

I still own a share in a Cessna that's hangered in Goodyear and many friends, so I still come to town. My wife is driving to Phoenix the first week of Feb. to spend a week with her best friend.

I would like to ride my Busa to Phoenix in April to show it off and maybe go on a ride with you Arizonean's. When it hit's 95 degrees, I'm out of there.

Sounds great Sane!

Ping me when you get ready. There are now 3 - 4 of us who have expressed interest in riding.

Hey Micky D, I appreciate the good words about Phoenix. We are really looking forward to the change. My wife and I are really looking forward to finding a nice home and a good price. We don't need anything huge, its just her and I. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 1400 to 1600 sq ft. For something really nice we've seen the the prices range between 120,000 and 150,000 depending on what the house has pool, flooring etc. As for me I'm looking forward to being able to ride year round. I have a lot of friends in San Diego and it would be fun to blast over and see them. Any how, looking forward to meeting the Arizona folks and enjoying some rides together.

Phoenix is a pretty cool place to live. I went to school at ASU, but haven't been back since then. My job keeps me in the southeast, but wouldn't mind a trip back. Only thing I didn't like was August. Hotter than hell is appropriate.

Good luck with the move.

Satan comes here in the summer when Hell is too cold!

It's really not too bad once you get used to it.

During the summer I weld roll off boxes, yes outside in the summer with a stinger and a torch in a huge steel box with welding gear. Hydrate or die!
