This Wednesday at 9pm ET/ 10pm PT, SPEED Channel and Dream Car Garage bring you a classic shootout featuring seven of the most treasured production muscle cars from the late sixties and early seventies. The one hour special allows muscle cars from each of the major manufacturers to battle against each other, renewing some timeless rivalries

Who's going to win!?  Cast your vote!

My first car was an '69 Chevelle SS 396. It was weaker 396, but after massaging from my Uncle Paul Hellberg, the thing ran a daily driven 11 second quarter.
My current drag-only car is a single digit '93 Mustang Coupe. It has dipped into the 8's with my friend Chris running it. I have bested an 9.18 with the car. It is 6 years in the making. And has been an all-motor car, turbo car and today is an supercharged 406, w/ glidden heads, 2-speed, and moser shortened 9" rear.
I was born into drag racing. Grew up at the Hamptons raceway in LI, NY. My uncle and father had a rear seater rail when I was a kid. I thank my uncle for keeping me in the sport all these years.
He currently is running a 7 second 74 Duster out of Selma, NC.
Guess its just in the blood.
Guess thats why the Busa is a natural transition.
LOL.
I voted for the Hemi-car.

70 Chevelle LS6 All day long. My absolute all time favorite. 13:1 comp ratio bone ass stock from the factory for less than what you can buy a Kia today.

Yea muscle cars...Food for thought..My current best friend who lives in Sweden..
Somehow bought a 1970 Hemi Challenger... 379 built i heard. In 1974 or so.
They pulled the engine, trans, and the Dana 60 and installed into a Morris Minor!!!!
Best run was a 8.45 @ 145......Later i heard the Challenger got a hemi put back in..
Has to be one of the most valuble muscle cars of all time....as for now i don't know which factory hot rod is the quickest...Cool thread... wow.gif

Although the GTO is up against some tough competition, I still had to vote for it smile.gif I originally wanted a '70 LS6 then I came across a '68 GTO with a Big Block 400H.O. factory (under)rated at 360hp (bored .030 over), Muncie 4spd w/ Hurst shifter and 10bolt 3.55:1 rear. Cam has since been replaced with a Crane Ram Air IV replacement cam. Everything else is original. I've hung onto that car since I was 17 (my first car)... It's been everywhere with me... I'm 32 now... Still hanging onto those hopes of doing a complete restore on it.

Thanks for the stories guys... Keep them coming!

Voted for the Chevelle LS6. I drove a 1967 Malibu with a Truck 350 in it for a few years while in the Air Force and Stationed in San Antonio. One of the best experiences of my life was to drive that car from San Jose California to San Antonio across the southwestern US. It ran low on oil and spun a rod bearing on that trip. I continued to drive it for over two years in that shape with a progressively louder rod knock. Stuck a crank kit in it and drove it home right before I PCS'd to England. Hit an icy bridge in West Texas and went off into the median after fishtailing the whole way through the bridge. If only I could be there again, listening to CCR and ACDC the whole way home...

OMG I am crying while reading this - you don't butcher a super rare Hemi Cuda to race a Morris Minor - you butcher and old 4 door Coronet or Fury or something with a Hemi, use that powertrain !!

The results are in... I acutally took some time to watch and type this out! wow.gif
