my bike is overheating

I'm really afraid that I have done something completely stupid. The other day I was going to change my coolant, but I couldn't locate the radiator drain plug. Instead of researching how to drain the bike properly, I just pulled the hose at the bottom of the radiator, drained and refilled. Well, today my bike overheated on the way to work. I'm guessing I drained out too much fluid and got air in the pump. Is there an easy way of fixing this? I feel really stupid right now.

Next time I guess I should just vacum it. I guess my problem was that I wasn't running the motor when I refilled the coolant and I got a bunch of air in there. Lucky the overflow did it's job and natural heating and cooling sucked in enough coolant and it fixed it's self. So all is well now. Thanks for you help.
