My Bus is sick and fat.

When I was younger, I used to kid around about how funny it would be to teach children to talk wrong. Whenever they would say something, it would come out funny. Well, apparently someone has. Just got back from California, and many young people thought my Bus was "sick" and "fat". I would like it to be strong and light. Oh well.

That's what he means, Mambo.
Boy are you outta touch!! :)

When I first got mine, I took it to a buddy's place to show it to him. I've only lived in So. Cal for a few years, but he's a native, in his late-20's. He's not much into bikes, but he's definitely into cars. So he didn't know anything about the Busa, except what I had told him before I got it. He looked it over, checked out the swingarm, the front brakes, and the first words out of his mouth were, "That is a SICK bike!"

He's married, with a 5 year-old boy, not exactly a kid. What's the world coming to, when adults start talking like that?? Don't sweat it.

Mr. Bear: Doh, sorry, I was a little slow on the uptake. Of course that is what he meant!

You know, I specialized in the LA style gangsters. I love working with them because they are always color-coded and carry their own mug shots. It is kind of funny how the good guys rub off on the bad guys and the bad guys rub off on the good guys. I could never go for the "pooped in the pants" look, but I would never have thought that the word "homes" would have found it's way into my vocabulary. There are gangsters, and then there are gang "enthusiasts". This was no OG, this was just a white kid that talked funny.

Ambush,
"Sick" and "phat" are not "Ebonics," but rather everyday slang that white, black and other kids all over the country are using. They're both at least a few years old already, I think. And no, they don't teach Ebonics in schools. There was some talk of it at one time but too many black educators gave it a big thumbs down.

What's up Kirk. I'm here in Oakland California. What you just heard was called "Ebonics" and believe it or not they teach it in school. If you would have stayed longer you may heard "yo shi*'s the knock" or "that's mad ill" but they all mean they REALLY like the bike

At least people of color have a respectable reason for talking or dressing a little different, eating different food, and so on. Cultural distinction is not a sin or a crime. Everyone needs something to give them a sense of self and identity.

But a low-life white kid trying to "act black" by being loud, obnoxious, and stupid, well....he needs to be thrown in the lake, head-first. You made the right choice!!
