Hi Folks ,

After a long wait my bike is on its way to my city ( no dealer here ). This is how it’s packed in India . Should be here day after , but we have an orange alert ( storm for tommorow ) hope it clears out . I’m 65 riding since 1976 , I already bought the ABM handle bars , and few accessories , I’m graduating from Ninja 1000 .I truly am excited . Now a the best weather for next 3 months ( will be in 70 s and 80 s F) . I plan to ride for a few days with the regular handle bar . I wanted a White colour and I got it too . I’ve never done a hard break in for any of my bikes and I don’t intend to but I do have a question? What would happen if I never redlined the bike in the first 1000 kms ( 600 miles )

In my opinion more bad will happen if you red line your new bike in the first 600 miles than if you don't but others opinion may differ. I've owned more than one new bike and I've always followed the manufacturers recommended break-in procedure and never had an issue. Congrats on the new bike.

The more you run the bike up close to the redline, then let off the gas and let it engine brake back down, the better the rings will seat.
Just don't hold it on the redline.
And as said above, change the oil after the first tank of gas.
All the new metal rubbing against each other, and clutch fibers wearing off crud up the oil pretty quickly.
I'de change it again after a few more tanks of gas, then on a regular mileage schedule.

If you listen to some on this forum regarding their method of engine break-in, you'll be breaking the law by massively exceeding the speed limit. Unless you're on the German Autobahn, taking the bike close to the red even in 1st puts you way, way over the speed limit, and because you're not used to the bike yet, also places you and others at risk. Just ride the bike normally. Ride it like you stole it? Do that where I live, and the over-paid bored cops over here will treat you like you stole it that's for sure. Just vary the revs. Give it little spurts here and there. Complete the oil change at or around the 1000km mark, as per the manual. This is how I break in my bikes and I've never had any issues with oil consumption and I get a lot of trouble-free miles out of my engines.

However u break it in, it’ll probably be fine. This is why most ppl say follow manufacturers suggestions.

But if you want to break it in for the best performance, do as me and sixpack suggested.

Congrats!
and just an fyi
Gear is a personal choice...but your hands get used for everything...and are usually the first thing to hit the ground.
Gloves are worth it.
Yes that was just within the compound , I never ride without gloves . My observations coming from ninja 1000 , it’s running way hotter ( is it bcos it is 0 km on odo , the qs feels very Clunky ; is that how it’s supposed to be or am I applying the wrong pressure ? Thanks
