My Canadian Visit

I'm off to a place about 90mins outside Toronto. About as far from Beamsville as Grimsby but it's out in the countryside.

Visiting the girlfriend for her friends wedding and I'll be dropping in on the Irish relatives in Scarborough and Toronto too.

It's great but I think I frighten her friends? Her mother's Irish so she can cope with me but the rest of them seem to find the concept of getting pissed in the middle of the week a bit odd (drunk pissed, not annoyed pissed).

I'm looking forward to it.

If you feel like visiting an Irish pub in Toronto for a weekday lunch pissup, let me know on this thread and I'll meet you in Toronto or Scarborough.

And/or if want to check out local bike shops for good/cheap gear, I'd be glad to tell you where the best ones are that you'll be nearby on your visit.

Couple more days until I have to put my little Busa away for a week and Visit the (hopefully) sunnier shores of Canada.

Make sure you're all out and about so I can at least see what I'll be missing. It might make the week go by quicker.

DP. If you could give me a few names of cheap gear shops it would be great. I need to get some serious wet gear now coming into winter here and I priced some richa stuff here and it's working out about CAN$650 for jackets and a little less for trousers. Ouch.

As far as the midday drinks go. Thanks for the invite but I haven't seen the girlfriend in over 2 months and I have a sack on me like a watermelon :-). My days and nights are booked.

The reverse offer is there if you ever end up in this neck of the woods though.

Hey SoreHead I just remembered that I forgot to tell you some bike stores to visit!

Hope this gets to you on time.

ON YOUR WAY FROM GRIMSBY TO SCARBOROUGH:
Here are two stores that are in Toronto's west end just off the highway as you enter the city...and they are right next door to each other.

1. Parker Brothers Powersports. 5308 Dundas Street West, (416) 234-5750. They sell brand name gear (lots of apparel) for 20% less than anyone else.

2. Cycle World is a big Hon/Yam/Suz/Kaw dealership (Canada's biggest) with a very good accessories dept. 5312 Dundas Street West, (416) 233-5501.

WHEN YOU'RE VISITING IN SCARBOROUGH and after your watermelons have been properly deflated, go see

3. Cycle World (same store, different location, different gear) at 4545 Sheppard Avenue East, (416) 291-9858. Ask for Jamie in the accessories department and tell him you're in from Ireland and Dirty Pete with the Black Hayabusa sent you...he will give you my excellent discount. I have specifically cleared this with him.

One thing to keep in mind. All the shops here are changing their inventory over from bikes to sleds (snowmobiles). If you don't see what you want on display, just ask and they'll pull it out for you.

Make sure to take a drive in the country. It's prime autumn colors for the next 2 weeks.
