My new and first busa

So, I find myself with a '99 busa in the garage now. It was my brothers and he passed away. It has 37k on it and seems(like i know)to run well. I have never owned a full sport bike and really don't consider myself an enthusiast. I do have an '06 FZ1 that I put around on but just barely, no wheelies, no racing. Usually never above 7k rpm.

So I ask, is there anything that really needs to be looked at with 37k? I have downloaded the manual and am capable of doing most stuff myself, just looking for pointers. Timing chain/s? Valve adj? clutch insp? I know the bike has been thoroughly enjoyed/ridden hard from the day he bought it new so I just want to do my part to keep it going. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

It looks to have a lot of parts like after market suspension, brakes, paint, and exhaust.

I'd say change the oil, check the plugs, and change the fuel filter.

Maybe have a shop look at it if you want to be certain.

Sorry to hear about your brother! Looks like he took very good care of the bike, but the only way to know if there are problems is to take it to a trusted mechanic. Like heavy said, change the oil/filter, fuel filter and check the plugs. You'll know if something major is wrong, but have it checked out to be sure.

+1 also sorry for your loss.. do you plan on keeping the bike long term? I would expect that the suspension is ready for some major work (springs, valving, oil). Valve adjustment may be due as well..

Would love to see some better pictures of the paint...

Welcome to the .oRg!!

Welcome to the family. That bike was definitely one of your brother's prides. I hope you keep it in his memory.
