Near miss for me today also

So i decided to take the bike out this evening to go check out my buddies new 3d tv (which is awesome by the way) and im cruising up 275 west, not speeding just keeping with traffic. I glance to my left and do a double take because i see this really screwed up paint job on a toyota 4runner, one of those do it yourself flame jobs lol. I look back foward and just yards from me in the middle of my lane is a aluminum ladder, which was blending in perfectly with the color of the highway, my heart skips about 6 beats and everything turns to slow motion, i jerk hard to the left and miss it by literally inches and when i say that im not exaggerating in the least.

Talk about scary, i look in my mirror to see the car that was behind me swerve hard to avoid it also, im not sure about the car behind that one. 275 is a 6-8 lane loop around cincy, or else i would of pulled over and dragged the ladder off the road. Just goes to show how quickly things can get bad with no fault of your own, im really starting to like this gremlin bell that was given to me, seems to be working :bowdown:

yikes man!!!! glad your instincts kicked in!!!glad your ok!!

Glad you saved it, I hate things in the road and the potholes that sneak up on ya. And that reminds me I've got to put my gremlin bell on.

Great reaction! Glad you made it through.
There is a small problem with road debris here also. Ya have to be heads up all the time on I75 even if you are keeping up with the flow...80mph. I have seen a lawn chair, tv, countless paint buckets(5 gal variety) and all sorts of other construction crap on the highway. My favorite are the large shreds of spent rubber tire from trucks.

This is why I more and more try to stay off the hgwy. It's too crowded to keep a safe enough distance between the vehicle ahead and yourself. Since your so close together road debris esp retreads from trucks as Chef says come at you so quick it's do or die instead of a slow swerve around. I only take the hgwy if I have to.

Glad to hear you made it around the ladder. That could have been really bad.

Exactly. I'm currently accepting donations so that I can purchase all of the roads that I like to ride on and make them private.

Until then, I'm becoming more and more of a track guy. At least there are no ladders there.

Distance from vehicle in front of you, avoid center of lane, and never check out naked chicks or bad paint jobs

Oh, I try to stay out front ........ for safety reasons

Yup, just saw a massive shredded truck tire on the road while driving my truck with the wife. Looked like some trucker had the tire go all at once. If you didn't see it, a biker would be down quite easily.......

Almost the same exact thing happened to me but I was in the right lane of a 3 lane highway, it was dusk and I was in a tuck @ 80 or so. Saw it about a milisecond before I passed it (It Was In The Middle Lane)...33.3 chance of hittin that thing, no tellin how bad it would have turned out....U cant let ur guard down 4 even a second on a bike. Glad 2 hear u missed it, frikin A@#$%! 2 *&^%( lazy 2 stow their crap. When im in a cage and I see something on the highway that can take out a motorcyclist I always call 911 and give them the mile marker so dps can get it:please:

Buddy of mine was riding his wifes gsxr 1000 when he hit a trailer ramp that someone had"misplaced"... Ended up landing it, popping the tires, bending the rims and almost crapping his pants. Insurance bought him some nice roland sands wheels.
