I am going to race a friend of mine on a 1/8 mile for fun tomorrow. Its not really a drag strip, just a thing the local car show put on, on a city street. I weigh right at 300lbs with all my gear on and the guy on the 1000 is at least 100lbs lighter than me. My bike is not lowered or stretched, but has a full system and a pc3usb. What I was wondering was what rpm everybody was launching at. I slip the clutch a little of the line then dump it. I have tried it up to 7k/rpm and the bike launches good then bogs then away you go. Any advice simple advice to improve on this? I know this race will probably be won off the line. Either win or lose its just for fun, but bragging rights are still nice to have.

try harder and don't lock-up.

If your heavier by 100Lbs ... it is going to be a close call

Best of luck!!

i think your in trouble unless he flubs the launch... 100pnds is hard to overcome...

I think yoru RPMS are too high though.. try about 3,000, roll into the throttle in 1 smooth motion while slipping the clutch

I see a few people making an issue of the 100lbs. weight factor. I have a question about that. With the' Busas overwhelming torque advantage to the G1K, would that kinda level the playing field or is 100lbs a bit too much still?

spigga, the 04 gixxer is right with the busa with prof riders. in the quarter and top end. So that means if you and him are at equal skill AND you weigh MORE, you should lose. As it goes with anything, in theory is one thing, in practice another as your not and 99.99% of us are not professional riders. Skill with yur chosen tool (i.e. bike) decides the race.
