Need advice

Okay guys I really need some good opinions here. Rather than having my inners painted I have another idea. I find the performance of my bike to be getting a little tame now that i am used to it. I am contimplating doing a Full Exhaust. Now the only thing is the only 2 companies that catch my interest right now are Yoshimura or Akrapovic. They only offer 4-2-1 setups and I love having dual exhaust. Plus I have never heard the sound of Akrapovic. I know what Yoshi's sound like cuz I have bolt on's on my bike and LOVE the sound. So what I am asking is would you guys recommend doing the 4-2-1? Do you think the performance gain is worth losing a can? And Also the only way I am gonna do this is if I can sell my bolt ons. Would anyone be interested in a VERY well maintened set of RS-3 bolts ons with the original yoshimura packaging still for around 375$ They only have 8,000 miles worth of use on them and I have BABIED them. No scuffs or scratches at all. They are stainless by the way. Anyways what you guys think and any takers on my bolt ons? Hit me back.

Also I forgot does anyone know which system will produce more HP? The akrapovic full race or the Yoshi rs3 full race? Thats gonna be a big deciding factor.

the biggest HP gain is going to be the Brock system.... then Akro, then muzzy/yosh/scorpio/etc

We are talking like 2-4HP differences here between systems... and dont think you are gonna get some cosmically different bike after the exhaust swap just from the better exhaust.  The real savings is in the weight of the exhaust vs the stocker setup.  You are talking potentially loosing 15lbs of weight, which is worth another HP or two alone and also dramatically changes the handling of the bike.  If you have ever taken a busa off the side stand with stock setup and then one with an aftermarket setup, you will notice the difference immediately.

I have the Yosh system on my bike, I like it.  Its got a good low end grumble and then gets plenty loud when you are WFO.  I have heard all the others and they really sound good too.... I think it boils down to these 3 things:

1) how much can you afford?
2) which sound do you like more?
3) which look do you like more?

*IF* I was going to do another system on my bike, it would be either the HMF Dual high exit system or the BDE with the Polished CF can (if I could talk Warbaby into coming outta retirement for one more system

 )

That said... I got my full RS3 Race system off Ebay, brand new, sealed in the box, high exit system for like $400ish  and then had to shell out the $140 to get the normal exit mid pipe.  I love the sound and probably will not replace this system on this bike.  The *if* above is if I get another busa.

Well like I said right now I have never had a full system PERIOD. So I don't know what it will feel like at all. I just fought getting one for so long because I only liked these two brands and neither one of them offered a 4-2-2. Thats why i just want to be sure it will be a noticeable difference before I drop 1K on it and give up the other can. But to answer your questions here they are.....

1.) I can afford the thousand dollar range
2.) I have never heard the AKRO but I have Yoshis and lvoe the deep rumble when it idles and then the growl when u are hitting the higher RPM's
3.) I like the look of the AKRO better.

If you want a dual exhaust, the HMF is awesome!!

I wouldn't select exhaust by HP because I don't think you're going to be able to tell the difference between different full systems.

I'd select exhaust to make chain maintenance much easier, lose weight, increase sound, and just to look better than stock

You can search for the thousands of exhaust threads posted and look at the pictures.  Then pick the one the best suits you.

well if you really like the 4-2-2 look, I would highly recommend checking out the HMF big bird system. Its a 4-2-2 system with a high exit under the tail, maintains rear pegs and sounds fuggin incredible.

Otherwise, for the 1k range, save a few more hundred and get the BDE system, as its widely considered one of the best available on the market and has a huge support base around these parts

Either of those systems will run you around the 1k mark so they are in your budget.

Well I have decided to just do a 4-2-1 and save the weight and it will make my chain maintenance so much easier. So I am leaning to the Akrapovic. What kind of power gains should I expect? Also for those interested I am doing to post my YOSHIMURA bolt ons in the for sale section if you want to check them out.

6-12 hp depending on the map and who's dyno youre on.The Akrapovic EVO is a work of art and is light as fug!

Thats kinda what I was figuring on. I was gonna go with either the race setup or the evo. I dunno if I wanna pay an extra 500$ for the evo though. I think looks wise it will take some getting used to but it will make it so much easier to do my chain maintenance and the weight loss will be nice to. I already have a power commander so all I have to do is install the system and remap it. Also man you might be a good person to ask. I am gonna go ahead and do the pair valve mod while I am putting the full system on. Where can I get a NICE set of block off plates?

I got mine from Schnitz, but there are some nice ones on ebay and Brocks kit has the Vacuum caps with it.When you get the exhaust on,Pm me ,I'll send you a kickarse map.

Brock's, a site sponsor, sells pair block-offs with the air line caps. One thing to keep in mind about high mounts is you might lose your rear pegs. Check to make sure, if you plan on carrying a passenger.

Sweet dude. You are the man. I am not sure when it will be because I have to find a buyer for my bolt ons. Soon as I sell them I am on it. That makes defending the price to my girlfriend a little easier. lol

I won't be doing high mounts. And I actually decided to do the akrapovic 4-2-1 race exhaust. I just decided to do the block off plates while I am working in there.
