I'm trying to install the +1 links/dogbones and the bottom bolt came off without a problem, but the higher one is not coming off so I'm in the middle of trying to grind/cut that puppy off so I'm going to need new ones. What size bolt and nut are these? Also should I use some loctite when installing?

P.S. Nothing was going to get it off other than maybe a blow torch...and I had the weight off the rear suspension using the steel rod and jack stands.

Try an impact wrench. Those nuts are on their tight!

Tried w/ still no luck! I believe ever so slightly stripping the nut didn't help. I used the right size wrench to get it off (17mm) but wouldn't budge an inch. Had a bar for leverage over the socket handle, hit with a sledge hammer and it never even budged...well it did but the bolt didn't and it started rounding out the nut. I'm in the process of trying to cut it off but the angles are a beeeyotch! My dremmel works at 90* angle.

Guess I'll just take the bolt to the hardware store, match and get the right size.

I had the same problem and used a nut splitter tool (has a circular part that slips around the nut and then a blade comes in from the side that you tighten with a wrench, and it slices the nut). Then just pull the bolt out.
I wouldn't replace those bolts with anything but genuine parts.
For some reason they are special (besides holding the entire rear end up).
I got the bolt from Ron Ayers (or Bike Bandit) and it was $15.89.
I don't like to go Genuine Parts for a lot but I figure there is something up with these bolts to be so expensive. Too important to fool with. I want the security to know the rear end will be staying up at warp speeds.
Just my opinion.

I looked closely at the OEM bolts and nuts.
They have a wider flange on the bottom of the face that contacts the dogbones.
This is instead of a washer.
I guess that they figured a nut-bolt with washers was not as laterally stable as the nut-bolt with a flange.
There would seem to be some sideways forces on those parts and the flange system would give more support than with washers?
Must be some reason to go that route.
Just my opinion.
