Well, some xxxxsucker tried to boost my bike last night, broke into my building, and got my helmets, and jacket.
The problem is, my front end is locked, amd they took a frickn screwdriver to my switch, and now I can,t get the bars unlocked. What do I need to do to get the switch off to replace it?

oh man i am so sorry... i dont know how to do that..sure someone else will

I hate to say this but after thinking about it,the whole process will be easier if you finish what they started and get the tumbler to turn and release the pin holding the bars in the locked position so you can remove the upper bar clamp and the fork top clamp also because the lock is screwed to the bottom of the fork clamp with safety torx screws. After you get the bars to turn, remove the upper bar clamp by prying out the 4 caps that are in the 8mm bolts. The nut on the bottom is a 12mm-place a thick towel over your guages and set it on the towel after getting it loose. Next remove the fork top clamp with a 6mm for the fork clamps, a32mm socket fits the nut on the steering stem. Then use a flat tipped center punch to loosen the spanner nut & remove it. An extra pair of hands helps to hold the bars and levers out of your way. You will also need to remove the left lower dash panel and unplug(the green one) the switch from the main harness. It will take me a bit to post all the torque specs but I'm guessing it'll be a while before you need them

A good criminal wouldn't have messed this up like this. A young kid would be the one behind this...also no more than 2...otherwise they would have just picked her up and away she went...just start shooting suspects in the neighborhood...let God sort it out... There are few things I hate worse in life than liers and thieves..2hip

sort it out...

The safety torx bits can be found at most local hardware stores or even electronic stores. They have a hole in the middle of the bit.

I did file a report, can,t get a copy til Tues. I ,v got the whole nose off, but can get the switch to turn, and get to the bolts to get the switch off.

well, after 6 dam hours, I got the front end unlocked, to long of story how I ended up doing it , but anyways, thanks for the replys

Glad you got past that part, seem like its never any fun working on your bike as a result of someone elses BS. Heres all the torque specs to put it back
Steering stem head nut 65.0 lb-ft
Steering stem lock nut 58.0 lb-ft
Fork upper clamp bolt 16.5 lb-ft
Handelbar holder mounting nut 25.5 lb-ft
Check with Daniel @ Cloud9 Motorsports,he can hook you up with a matching ignition and trunk lockset so you'll be back to one key:thumbsup:

Great post help S-R!

why would he need to remove all the triple tree stuff, you can unbolt the ignition without doing any of that

Well, that,s the best way to do it, because it bolts to the triple, but when the steering is locked, I couldn,t get the triple to come off, so then I went at from the bottom, BUT, you can only get to 1 screw to the switch, so, I had to get the front unlocked before I could get to the other screw, and first I tried to finish what they started with a screw drive, and make the switch come on to unlock the steering, but man, I tried for 4 hours, drilled it, beat on it, u name it, and I coildn,t do it. So, after lot,s of head scratching, I frickn drilled a half inch hole into the switch, and took a screw drive and pushed on the lock, and BAM, steering unkocked 6 hours later, every piece of plastic but the tail is off, guages too, and all over a xxxxsucker messn with my $hit, and on top off all that, we are back to part time at work, so it will be a long time til I can buy a switch to fix her, but, as they say, lifes a ***** sometimes.
But thanks to S-R, and everyone else that replied.

It's good to have a 600lb bike. Like they say "fat people are harder to kidnap". Wish I could help ya with the parts.
