Ok guys, I'm loosing sleep over this.  I have the opprotunity to buy a MINT 2000 with a Mr. Turbo kit.  The bike has been taken care of beyond belief, everything possible has been documented in a book.  9,500 miles on the bike, 2,500 on turbo install.  Bike is pretty much stock otherwise.  $8,000 but maybe as low as 7,500.

I want a drag/street bike emphasizing drag bike first.  I am ex road racer and have lost most desire to ride on the street, but still want a street legal bike.

I would have to dump at least 2k into this bike to get it drag ready, if not more.

Do I buy this bike now and build it up over winter.  Or, do I hold out until late winter early spring and look for complete bike ready to race.  I'm guessing there might be some guys dumping their current ride to build up 08's if the new model is responding well to kits.

I think it's going to cost the same, the big difference is having a better turbo kit if I hold out.

I'm looking to stay stage 1, under 300hp to stay on pump gas.

I'M GOING CRAZY!!!!!  FOR BOOST

(Johnnycheese @ Sep. 17 2007,08:59) have them out it on the dyno most MR turbo kit sux
Gotta love your straight forward honest opinions Johnny!

I do agree they are the last turbo kits I would buy if I were to do my own. Not that they are just downright horrible, just not my first choice.

thanks

8K is a great price for a built bike... I don't think yo uare going to find anything cheaper than that... Someone on another board was selling a salvaged turbo busa for around 7K less than a month ago.

In top five fastest Hayabusa's in Land Speed Racing there are two Hayabusa's running Mr. Turbo kits. I have dropped selling them because of the poor (cheap) turbo choice, replace the Turbo and everything else is ok!

If it was installed properly and its a dual ball bearing turbo the price is not bad at all. If all you have to do is spend $850.00 for a really good turbo you will be flying in no time.

You would need to change the header to swap out to a different turbo like a garret witch you would need to do. The fueling would need to be changed if you want it to survive any kind of hard racing MR TURBO uses a 1:1 reg and a PC if im not mistaken perfect recipe for blown HG and burnt pistons.

Now you have two options on fueling(well three but you dont need a standalone)

1. FMU with a PC
2. Secondaries

With a FMU they work great when they work,You pretty much stuck with one stage of boost or your fueling will be off unless you by a hub also but im not to fond of all the add on boxes that mess with the stock ecm it takes alot of tuning to get them to drive good off boost and it always a comprimise.

With secondaries you leave the stock ECM alone no need for a PC unless you want to pull timing or clean up some of the small throttle openings but there is really no need. The secondary injectors add all the fuel you need depending on the boost your running so you can set your boost at 5lb then switch it up to 15 and not have to worry about it running to rich or too lean (if its tuned right) because it uses a fuel map based off of lbs of boost not TPS

The secondary kits i run also have an independent IAT (intake air temp sensor) and coolant temp sensor so it will compensate for changes in air temp, and coolant temp, and adjust the fueling accordingly.

This will give you a few things to think about before you jump into it and let you know what to expect.

If you have any questions fell free to PM me i will help in any way i can.

Wow, thanks for that great info guys. I think I'm going to pass on this deal and wait for something better, or just build my own.

Really appreciate it
