Ok guys, I'm loosing sleep over this. I have the opprotunity to buy a MINT 2000 with a Mr. Turbo kit. The bike has been taken care of beyond belief, everything possible has been documented in a book. 9,500 miles on the bike, 2,500 on turbo install. Bike is pretty much stock otherwise. $8,000 but maybe as low as 7,500.
I want a drag/street bike emphasizing drag bike first. I am ex road racer and have lost most desire to ride on the street, but still want a street legal bike.
I would have to dump at least 2k into this bike to get it drag ready, if not more.
Do I buy this bike now and build it up over winter. Or, do I hold out until late winter early spring and look for complete bike ready to race. I'm guessing there might be some guys dumping their current ride to build up 08's if the new model is responding well to kits.
I think it's going to cost the same, the big difference is having a better turbo kit if I hold out.
I'm looking to stay stage 1, under 300hp to stay on pump gas.
