I'm about to need a new rear for the busa and I was wondering where y'all usually get em from. I'm also not sure exactly what to get. I was thinkin about just goin back with the batlax, but don't know if maybe there's a better tire for the price. I don't even know how much they cost. I haven't looked at anything yet, and thought this would probably be the best first step. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

I actually bought my last tires from MotorcycleUSA.com but before that you really need to be more specific about what you are looking for. If the BT56 is your only frame of reference then the sky is the limit as far as better tires go. They aren't terrible but tire technology has long since passed the BT56 by. How do you ride? Trackdays, drag strip, sport touring(two up?), cruising? How many miles do you want out of your tires? Do you ride in a lot of rain etc. Then you can start looking for a tire more tailored to your personal riding style. Below are a few big players within a general classification of each. Of course there are dozens more these are just a few.

Sport Tires-
Michelin Pilot power
Metzeler Sportec M3's
Dunlop Qualifiers
Pirelli Diablos

Sport touring tires-
Avon Storms
Metzeler Z6's
Bridgestone 021's
Michelin Pilot Roads

Track day tires-
Michelin Pilot race
Metzeler Racetec
Dunlop 208GP
Pirelli Super Corsa III

You might check locally. When I needed a new rear I shopped online and the cheapest I found for a 190/50-17 pilot power was about $160-170 + shipping. The local honda dealer had em for 149+tax.

Never thought it would be cheaper locally because it seems like everything is cheaper over the internet. I also got it the same day and got to support a local business.

You also need to look at mounting/balancing of the tire.

You may find a good deal on the internet, but if you have to pay $50/tire for mounting/balancing it may not be a good deal. Local shops usually give you a cheaper rate for mounting balancing if you buy their tires.

I've been looking for a few weeks - ask some of the guys here, they got tired fo my whining - and finally found cyclegear had a sale $199/set + tax + $20ea mount/balance + Tire Stem for Qualifiers. If you don't need it now, start shopping on the net and locally - ask some of the sponsors here what their prices are too...

Thanks for all the help guys. I now have a pretty good selection of places to start looking. And to answer bigoltool's question a little better. I ride alone, mostly cruising, but I do like the twisties. But the majority is cruising. I have a 30 mile one way commute to work, so that's where most of the miles come from. Highway riding back and forth to work and a lot of just cruisin and a little more spirited riding on the weekends. I know I can't have something that's gonna perform really well AND last a long time, but I don't want something that's gonna wear out in 3000 miles. So far I've gotten 6000 out of the bridgstones and I've got a tiny bit left. That suits me pretty well. As long as I can get 6-8000 out of em I'll be happy. So basically, something that will perform well and last about 6-8000 miles.
