Never forget, sept 11

I was called up after this one. They showed us another set of these. From inside the lobby there was a metal mezzanine that connected the lobby to outside covered areas for like outdoor functions. When those bodies hit that mezzanine the sound they made was nothing like you'd expect a body to make. It sounded like bomb going off each time. Echoing between the buildings. One every few seconds. But more than a dozen before the cut the feed. The sound you will never forget when you learn they were human bodies.

Also when the second plane hit the tower, it was travelling at such velocity that one of the engines left the wing continued through the building, out the other side and continued another 3 blocks before hitting another building. In the main video you can see a smoke trail, trail off of what was an unidentified speck on the images they captured. I don't remember what the weight of that engine was but it was tons. 3 blocks takes a LOT of energy.

In some ways we learned a lot about how they got us. In other ways we are more stupid than ever.

I remember....I was home after doing morning PT and was sitting on the couch putting on my boots watching the news when I saw the plane hit the tower...I thought "this commercial is in poor taste" then found out it wasn't a commercial.

Almost at the same time the phone rang and I was told to bring in my "bug out" kit as we may be asked to assist the US or might be under the same threat.

This tragic event changed the world.

On my way back to the gate following personal hygiene time when the first tower was struck. Was listening to Steve Harvey on the radio and thought someone was playing a practical joke (if you've heard the show you understand). A couple hours after the second tower was struck we began moving to our alternate command post and the planning began for protection of the installation and preparing for movement.

Didn't know it at the time, but at the point I was only a 1/3d of the way through my career. Life and my career definitely changed after that.

I'm a big fan of The Kennedy Center Honors. One of the honoree's this particular night was Bruce Springsteen. Paying tribute to him was President Obama who introduced him saying..."I may be the President, but he's still "The Boss." Pretty cool I thought. I've seen most of those award video's but this is my favorite by far. Sting pays tribute to "The Boss" by doing his version of Bruce's song "The Rising" a real tear jerker for me as far as songs go about 9/11
R.I.P. to the fallen...best wishes to all those who still suffer to this day. The fallout was far reaching.
I know a lot of you are big strong over sized bastid's...but you may want to have a box of tissue on stand-by.
Peace All....
