new busa owner

Hello everyone. Just purchased a used busa from a Georgia dealer
in Atlanta. Beautiful bike, have wanted one since they came out
in 99'. Problems with this ride are its lowered 3", and has a side mounted license bracket. I'm going to have the bike raised 2" to
get somewhere near stock height and allow my short legs to hit the
ground. I also worry about grinding away on that license holder
when I lean it. Any suggestions?? Thanks for any help for the
FNGuy. No. I am not a new rider. Been riding 5 years.

Hey FNG,
Congratz on the Busa. PICS?

? Since the plate is moved, does it also have a custome undertail? There are a couple of options that I can think of, such as:
1. Put the plate back under the tail like stock
2. Use a different kind of reloctor so that the plate is off the chain guard instead. (you couold also get one off to the side but mounted vertically).
I am a little confused about the lowering issue....you have short legs but want to raise the bike? I'm not sure how tall you are, but there have been a lot of people lowering thier bikes lately, hieght seems to be around 5'7/8". If your sled is already slammed then it seems as though you would be okay

I must be misunderstanding you.

Thanks Shawn,
Yes, it has a custom undertail, fender plastic is gone and has an LED taillight. Not sure if that plate mounts vertically or not
as it is. Pics of the bike on www.wowmotorcycles.com, go to Suzuki section and find black and silver, 03' with nearly 3k miles. Loved it lowered on the stealrship floor but hearing about hard parts lifting the rear wheel under hard cornering and bottoming out
problems is making me consider raising it. I am around 5'8" with 30 in inseam. Just want it safe under 99% conditions. Can't wait to get on it. Thanks again.

You may want to get with the dealer and see if they will restore it to stock height.....I recommend if you want a stock bike but with a slightly lower profile due to short legs (like me) take her back to stock and get a Tobin seat. It'll set you about an inch and a half lower in the seat and the neck is narrower than stock so your legs aren't bowed out around it. Doo a search for Tobin and you'll see what I am talking about if you don't already know. Oh, and PICS!!!!

Is this the one? Looks like an aftermarket windscreen (Chrome)

This one shows: Frame Sliders (very nice), Yoshi 4 n2 1

I like the undertail.....but the plate bracket looks horizontal.

It look slike the pad for the plate is still on the undertail.....you might just be able to remove the new bracket and put the plate back. ST Machine makes a plate relocator that replaces your chain guard, that's the one that I have. Nice bike. Congratz!!!

Congrats on the busa! I looked at wow before trading my cruiser in at ICC in warner robins for my busa. They have some decent prices every now and again...okay maybe only 1/2 the time lol!!

Shawn,
That's her. Couldn't leave without buying that one. Frame sliders, pipe, chrome wheels, pretty much what I was looking at doing to it at some point if I bought stock but already done. Did a search for Tobin but no website I could find. I think I did e-mail him though so hope he will reply. I think if I have it dropped one inch instead of 3 and get the Tobin I should be in good shape without too many worries. Yes there will be pics later! It would be nice if the undertail is as you see it. Thanks
for the posts.

Nice ride you got there busafng

Welcome to the board... you will love it here

Getting the dealer to raise it 2", move the plate to the tail and ditch the side bracket. Should corner now without grinding anything. The previous owner must have really like riding only in straight lines. Getting it delivered also. No need to have my first experience with this bike be trying to get it home 75 miles from the middle of Atlanta traffic. Going to learn this throttle before getting brave. Respect=living longer. Many thanks for the feedback.

BFNG-
I'm glad it is working out for you. As far as the Tobin seat, do a search here on the board for Tobin there are several threads and almost all of them will have Tobin's contact info, including his phone number. Make sure you keep us up to date and more PICS!

Thanks Shawn,
Yes, more pics soon. Got Tobin's number off his e-mail reply and called him earlier today but had to leave a message. Will try again tonight. Hope raising the bike won't mess up the sidestand because it was heated and bent some to keep it up at 3" lower. No matter, whatever it takes the bike is mine and when its ready I will be on it. Thanks again for the help.

Do you still have the relocator bracket? I'll buy it if you do. Been looking for one for cheap. Nice bike and welcome to our world.

whooo! the stealership measured the drop at 4" rather than 3. Totally slammed. Working on raising it now. Getting it next weekend. Can't wait!
