New Busa?

OK so for 8+ years now I've wanted a Busa. I've had a few other bikes including ZX-6R, GSXR-600, R1. I never have bought new. I now am in a position where I can get one at last! I have recently moved into the Minneapolis area and haven't had a bike now for a few years and I know its the wrong time of the year to get one but I have a few questions. I'm set on the 08 orage model.

So, This bike will be a daily driver for me as well as my bike. I'll be riding it to work and back daily rain or shine. So anyone who does this have any feedback on how it handles in the rain? The bikes I've had before I just never rode in the rain. My trip to work takes me from roughly hwy 169 & 494 up to the Maple Grove area on 494 the whole way.

So I sold my last bike a few years back along with all of my gear. So i'm going to need the works as well. Helmet and suit. So anyone who is around here know what the best place in the Minneapolis area to go and get setup with the bike as well as the helmet and suit. Is going to a local dealer the best way to go about it? Are there any tricks of the buy? Any advantages to buying out of state or anything like that?

Lastly, when to buy. So I could go now (as I look outside and see all the snow we just got), put about 4 down and buy going into winter which doesn't really appeal to me. I'd sit and stare at it all winter. Or wait until spring and have 6-8 to put down and buy then.

Thanks for any feedback and input!

I rode my '04 LE in a torrential down pour from San Antonio to Dallas (over 200 miles) a few years ago with no problems. It doesn't matter what bike you ride in the rain, it is how you ride the bike in the rain that matters.Check out the November isue of SUPER BIKE MAGAZINE(UK) on page 64 on riding in wet weather; the article is called ''Water Palaver.'' This might be the best time of the year to get a good deal on a new bike when demand is at it's lowest.

I had thought about that in light of buying now to save a few bucks but would it be more than the difference of putting 4K down vs. 6 to 8k down when looking at the interest on the loan. I need to do some investigating yet. I've searched for the dealers in the area. Anyone have any preference or as I stated above. Is it eaiser to go out of state or save $ somehow w/ taxes?

Dont be in a hurry to buy. You cant ride it anyway. Find the best deal for you. If you are going to buy gear, it is best to try it on first if you decide to puchase on line. Check the sponsors here too, they give out good deals.
The busa handles fine in the rain. I was in pouring rain this past summer, and I was on the highway doing 70+...some of the group couldn't keep up! Posers...
Just dont do any jerky motions or lock up your brakes and you'll be fine.
Good luck!

It's all about how you ride. Good time of the year to buy with one exception: '08 Busa. They just released the bike and most are going to those that put down payments on one to hold. Maybe Jan. Feb. would be better.

And welcome

Here's an instructional video on how to ride safe in wet weather conditions.

What they said, handles just fine all you have to do is take it easy... shift earlier than normal, ride in a higher gear that what you normally would.

Buy while demand is low...if you can put the extra $ away before next year, save it, pay down your note, then your interest $ paid per payment will be reduced.

...especially if you have a place to keep it.

Good luck...congratulations; welcome.
