New Gen3 for me in AKL, NZ.

I used to own and love a black Gen2, but sold it to try other motorcycles. I’m back in the fold once again with a black Gen3:

She was part of a promotion that came with a free set of cans. I’ve got those on now along with fitting an R&G tail tidy and an EarthX lithium battery:

I’ve also put on Techspec grips on the sides of the tank.

I plan on adding Carbon Smith velocity stacks and getting her tuned, some R&G exhaust hangers, raising links, Woolich quickshifter and an Evotech quadlock mount next.

Here’s my previous girl:

Awesome!
Welcome from Darfield, Canterbury NZ.
Nice to see other Kiwis here, I feel culturaly challenged here sometimes, place is full of Americans lol.
Nice add-ons you're fitting to a lovely machine, I've ridden all 3 Gens (I own a 99 Gen 1) and I can say from my perspective the Gen 3 is the tightest, firmest Generation of them all . . . but I LOVE my Gen 1 (coz I made it my own over the last 9 years!)
Stick around mate, it's a friendly well informed crew we're running here!

Welcome, sounds like you are all sorted out and GTG......

Be interesting to hear a ride report seeing as you stepped off a gen 2....
The Gen2 was a few bikes back now. I had a GSXS-1000, 1098s Streetfighter, DRZ-400SM and an Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory before coming back home to the Hayabusa. Time between the Gen2 and only having owned the Gen3 for a month will limit my observations.

I can say putting my leg over the Gen3 for the first time instantly brought my memories of the Gen2 back. It’s a very familiar place to be.

My Gen2 was a 2008 with braided lines and better pads, so I do notice the difference in feel of the brakes. This bike feels more numb when braking, which I reckon might be to do with the abs in between the lever and the callipers.

She has Brembo Stylema callipers like my Tuono, but they don’t feel anywhere near as powerful as the Aprilia. Not sure if that is just down to the increased weight or the linked braking system. Possibly both?

To ride on my commute and play on some twisties and highways she feels very similar to my Gen2.

One of the big things I liked about the new Busa was the clocks. I’m getting old and I like having clocks and not just a digital display. I do Miss the amber lights of the gen2 cockpit. Cruise control is also very nice!

Will put some more km’s on Black Betty and think on it more. Apologies for the ramble!

Hi!

I think you nailed it right there! You made it your own.

This is one of the appeals to me of the Hayabusa. It’s not just a bike that sits in the garage that you ride. It’s something you tinker with, maintain, customise and make yours. More so than other bikes for me.

No such thing as rambling around here.....

You will find and read a myriad of modifications for your bike.....if you get bit by that bug......you will have a lot of fun.....

I have been lurking around a bit reading all the excellent info on this site. She is such a nice everyday bike, but I do look at the turbo builds and drool…

600hp commuter isn’t excessive, is it?
