Fellow Busa riders! May I introduce you to the Akuma Phantom II MFR Helmet.
This bad boy is only 3 pounds! The company braggs about being super aerodynamic and proves it by wind tunnel testing? ECE and DOT certified (not Snell, but studies has shown raising questions regarding that, but thats another thread), sturdy chin curtains, even a strap that snaps on itself. If this still doesn't interest you...... Imagine never having to change your smoked visor for a clear one at night or visa versa. That's right, this helmet includes a Transitions, photochromic visor!
Is this all true? Hell yes! No more neck stiffness or headaches following heavy winds and long rides. Great field of vision, even what and who are on my sides. Inside noise is well managed with no high pitch whistling nor wind riots. Adequate venting to stop fogging, but did notice alittle at long stops. The chin strap clicks, securing the excess strap and preventing potential neck slapping and hickies. The hard sell for me was definitely the photochromic visor. It just think, changing my smoke glass for clear everytime it got dark, was old school. Not to say, just using a pair of sunglasses will do the trick, but why?
Anyway, for those of you noticing increasing neck issues, this may be an solution for that pain. It comes one size smaller, so Large will wear an XL. Carries a $465 dollar tag, although Marcus at Revzilla may throw in a free tee to ease the price tag sting. Is it worth it?
If you combine all my Chiropractic bills, Simpson bandit, xtra smoke visor, 2 pairs of sunglasses (scatch one) and multiple excuses to my wife for the strap hickies? What a deal! Check it out on Utube.
