Hi, I am new to this forum and new to the hayabusa. I just bought a 01 with 2300 miles on it and was wondering what the differnce is between a 99 and 2000 and 02 thru 07 compared to my 01. Thanks for the help. By the way I love this bike.

I'm a Gen II guy, so correct me if I'm wrong. The 2001 model changed to a steel subframe due to failures with the aluminum version in 99-00 bikes.

Nice find!

The biggest difference in the 99 and 2000 is the fuel system with an external fuel pump.
Beginning in 2001 on the fuel pump is located inside the gas tank.
The 99 to 02 models also needs a starter upgrade, so do a search and check it out.
You may want to check on a manual cam chain adjuster, I am not sure if your model has that too.
There are some other small differences, and some will chime in.

like everyone else said, plus a few small ones,newer ones have 180 gauges, different ecu, harness, pass and hazzard switches.

You're limited as are the 02's on. The 02 to '07's had improvements over the early versions, the biggest coming in '08
