We all know Suzuki prints there literature as the Busa wearing a 532 chain. We all know they shipped with 530 chain.

Jeff has done a 520 chain conversion, Jeff how is it holding up?

I know where to get the 532 sprockets, and I am looking for a 532 chain. Has anyone done this or know anything about the stronger 532 chain.

I spoke with a chain and sprocket mfg. today and he strongly suggested looking for a 532 conversion, as he stated his opinion the 530 is not up to the task on the Hayabusa

("Chains are a problem for the Hayabusa, 530's are just not strong enough")This nameless person has his companies name on the sides of most RR bikes, his opinion is worth consideration.

I use a Tsubaki 530 HQR dragrace chain.I suggested this chain to Don(Rotts4u).I havent had a problem yet with this chain.

Really?-
No kidding KawAbuser, the 530 isn't strong enough? I droped a couple of them. Im tired of pushing the Bus home. DID is making a new chain that will (they claim) take the power. I will believe it when they give me one-
Not to plug products, but Tsubaki "Sigma" seem to be up for the job. The only way i'll "roll out and Tap It" now is if someone has a video running. Thats second or third gear, about 40mph, full power, drop the clutch-

Ducmanic, thats why I am asking the king of the LA Holeshots. I figured you would be right on top of this one!
Because you California folk get everything first. Did they give you any release date yet?

A Tsubaki Sigma 530 is the strongest O-ring on the market -- in my opinion. That's scary to think the Busa will eat them up. There a few 532's out there, would be interested in the newer 532's though.

BUT a HQR chain? Are you serious? How does it hold up? Doesn't the Busa destroy it? Let me know..

So even the 2000 Busa's don't come with a 532?? Yet the brochures state this?

As long as you lube the chain once a week the HQR holds up just fine.Plus it gives you about 3 horsepower(dont tell anyone I told you)

Dr Busa, what are the make and model # of your 532 chain. What is the serial # of your bike (early 99 or late 99).

It sounds like you believe in the "Conan the Barbarian" movies.

Yngve, are europeans harder on chains.

Ducmanic are you LA European, you must be the way you waste chains. You go through more chains than tires mon!

Late 99. I will get back to you with serialnumber and chain. I had a GSX-R 1100 -91 once and that thing also came with a 532 but when i tried to get a replacement from the States (cheaper) they only had 530 in stock and needed to order the 532 making it almost twice the price of the 530. Do you guys remember if the US model of the mentioned bike had a 532 ?

Yes , I believe most of the GSXR's came with the 532.

Is everyones chain problems possibly with chains that use a master link? When it stretches, it tends to pop the clip off.Next goes the chain. Instead of using a clip, safety wire the master link. It wont come apart.

I have seen multiple dyno runs and a bunch of passes on a 200 hp busa and it still has the stock chain.

KawAbuser,
Im German, of the "Ferris" line, (not the name i use). I just like to break things, and
torture machines and such- I think it comes from my need to conquer and flee to small
South American Republics. Are you listrning HOF??

I tried HQR 530 chain on a FJ 1200 drag bike with a 10 inch slick in late 80`s..early 90`s this bike ran in top gas IDBA and prostar ...never had any problems what so ever...this bike would easily go in 7`s in quarter on nos...if that can`t break it a busa won`t. When I have to put a chain on I`ll probably try it ...just my 2 cents which again I might add are not worth much at times....

Interesting info on the HQR chains! Thanks...

My 1990 GSXR1100 came with a 532 chain, I converted it to 530 (cost related) and remained 530 to date. The Tsubaki Sigma has never let me down! Now, RK Chain is a different story....
There was a period of time when RK was lowering the cc ratings for some chains. After I bought my 1100cc rated chain, it slowly changed to "max 750cc" then 600cc. ANYWAY, TWICE this chain came off! Popped the masterlink clip and then bent the masterlink itself.

Bottom line... ALWAYS USE A SOFT NOSE RIVET ... then pressfit it on, this baby ain't coming off untill you say so!

My DID EVR2 520 chain is just fine...... if it's good enough for Suzuki AMA Superbike teams, it's good enough for me. They make 180+ hp and 114 ft/lb torque.

Yes I will replace it for 2000, I will only run 1 season on a chain and sprocket set. Removed so much weight, it would make you cry if I told you. Spin you back wheel while on a stand and see how many revolutions you can get.........

My sprockets are also just fine. My riding style is different than some of you here, I don't drag race, or do burnouts. Then I don't have any chain problems either :)

I used the Tsubaki Sigma 530 chain on my 89 GSXR 1100 and it was the best chain ever,I did have to change the sprocket on the bike to fit this chain.I will use the Tsubaki Sigma on my Hayabusa when OEM chain goes out.
