Never Forgotten
I have been looking for a set of leathers for sometime now. Being a little short for my weight, I should be around 7'4" or so, most companies wanted a premium just for a basic suit.
I met the owner of Reflex Gear at the East Coast R1 Convention at Deals Gap in June. We talked for some time about his product. Like myself Darryl is a big guy and he did not agree with other companies charging that much more for a suit. He showed me his suit. To say I was impressed was an understatement.
In late August, I placed my order for a 2 piece "Scorpion" suit in black and silver. The suit comes standard with full CE approved armor(shoulders, elbows, knees and hips). Stretch leather panels above the knees and lower back. Perforation on chest, back, sleeves & legs or zippered air vents. I went with perforation. Stretch Kevlar Panels in the groin Y Shaped, sleeves, knees & calves. Reflex Gear only uses top hide that is purchased from one source in Australia. The leather is 1.4mm to 1.5mm in thickness, and is drum died. The suits are all triple stitched using Kevlar threading in the flex areas. And the best part......the price, $790.00.
Around 10 weeks later my suit arrived, Fed Ex Express at no additional charge. The suit was extremly tight but not uncomfortable. I was told it would stretch in time and it has done that in the rides I have been on since they arrived.
I would highly recommend Reflex Gear if you are looking for a custom fitted suit. They are distributed by McCoy Motorsports in Pikeville KY.
Here are some pics another Darryl(killboy.com) snapped a few weeks ago at Deals Gap.
