I realized while cleaning my chain today that I am in need of a new set of rubber. I am thinking of going with the Dunlop Qualifier based on a recommendation from a buddy of mine. I also like the Michelin Pilot Power and ran them on a Triumph Daytona I owned.

You thoughts and recommendation are very welcome.

Sorry if this is a well worn thread I searched but didn't find one right away.

Thanks,

Steph

Also give the Dunlop Roadsmarts a try. They are basically a dual compound Qualifier. They have been great on my 08 so far. Great twistie road traction, and awesome highway manners, especially in the rain.

how do you ride? where do you ride... Q's can have a short life if abused very hard but they do hold the road well... my current set might make 1000 miles if I get lucky..

I would go with the Corsa3 before the PP

I probbaly ride 85% of the time at a commuting pace on the highway and 15% for fun not overly aggressive, chickenstrips are about 3/8 to 1/4 inch.

You are definately a candidate for Roadsmarts, Pilot Road 2's, Avon Storms ect. Full on sport tires are a waste of money for you. They'll flatspot mega fast...and the others I mentioned will stick better than you'll ever need and last 3 times as long. The Sport touring rubber is pretty much a supersport tire with a longer lasting center anyway. Just as good as supersport rubber for everything except maybe track days :;):

Yes, go with some form of sport touring tires to get your commuter milage. If twisties isn't your prime motivation, just about any of them will work fine. Even older versions like the original Pilot Roads will wear good, stick well enough for 1/4" C-strips, go well in the rain, and are cheap(er).

Just one thing, avoid Bridgestone BT-021s. Do a search, been a lot of problems with them.

I hear a lot of good comments on the Avon Storms. I am thinking about trying a set when the stockers go bad.

Go with the Avon Storms. They are awesome tires. Talk about long lasting tires. I ride the same style that you do. Mostly highway. You'll be surprised how long these tires last.

+1 Over 6K miles 90% 2up semi aggressive riding:thumbsup:
