New to the forum with a few questions

Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I found the forum on in my hunt to find the right bike. I have owned over 30 bikes in my days, mostly motocrossers, a few enduros, and a few street bikes. I have had a few KZ's (which were really fun). I raced motocross for many years and was sponsored by a Suzuki dealership. I have always had a soft spot for Suzukis. I haven't had a bike for a while. My 3 kids have been the primary focus for several years. Now that I can finally aford a nice bike I'm not sure what to buy. I have narrowed it down between a Hayabusa or a Cruiser. I really like the metric twins but this busa cult is really starting to peak my interest.

How comfortable is the busa for highway travel? My office is 50 miles one way from my house. It's almost all 4 lane highway.

Does the hump behind the seat on the busa come off and allow you to add a passenger seat? Is the passenger seat an add on item?

Thanks,

deck

You should get the seat and hump with your bike. If you buy used, the owner may have sold off the seat or hump. Either way, you can pick up either and have both. The Busa is a jack of all trades so to speak, she is a good cruiser, highway blaster, and very capable in the twisties. There are also many mods you can do so suit your riding style, seats, pegs, bar risers, etc, will allow you custom fit your bike to you. I hope you find what you are looking for, and welcome to the oRg.

I just completed a 300+ mile journey yesterday and was very comfortable on the bike. I also commute 30 miles one way. When I get around to it I may look at dropping the foot pegs and adding some heli-bars just to tone down the aggressive position a bit. I also considered the cruiser route myself but found that I'm still in love with that racy look. One unfortunate side-effect to going the sport bike route is you get categorized as a certain type of biker whether you are or not.

When you purchase the bike you'll get two seats and the plastic hump if you decide to ride as a one-seater.

Looking back I don't regret the purchase one bit and am glad I own this beast. It takes less than a flick of the wrist to escape or get into trouble for that matter. What a machine....

The busa is great for long rides, I have been to Atlantic City on mines. And it was a blast everyone on smaller bikes needed to stop more than I wanted to.
Welcome to the org.

You will never regret buying a Busa... But, you will empty yer wallet modding it!

Welcome! A very popular question (hope the search works soon) and all answers will tell you the bike is great and fits all needs. Big or short rider, long rides or toolin' to work, twisties or the track, 2-up or solo she can do it. Lots of mod capabilities, so as Brendan said your walled will be rather vacant. She may not be the best at all, but depending on your riding style will make the hair on your neck stand up!

LOL...I'll never forget how intimidated I was when I fist got mine, and also the very first time I got a chance unleash the powers that she holds....Whoo Hoo!!!

Dude, i am drooling over my keyboard after the first line of your question:easy:. the busa is perfect for a 50 mile one way commute. Thats just the right amount to get the juices flowing.

I have a 15 mile ride. I find that when its time to exit the hwy, I'm just really starting to get into it.

That is what I was going to say. I ride 30 miles to work, and I,m bummed out when I get there. I went from a cruiser to the busa, and the busa is much more fun to ride.

Busas are nice...and you are right, they have grown into almost a cult-like following.

I recommend you also give the M109 a chance. Many guys have given up their busas for these bikes. I personally believe that a busa is a great bike however you stand a better chance of staying alive and keeping your license on a M109.

My job is 40 miles away then I drive 18-wheeers and throw
freight for 12 hrs then ride home with no pain or problems.
Plus you can make it home real fast on a Busa

I didn't think anyone in my town sold Suzukis. I did a search on the Suk site and found that our Polaris/Victory dealer now carries Suzukis. I called them up to see if by chance they had a Hayabusa. He just wheeled his first '08 (orange) onto the show room floor. I went down after work and checked it out. Wow...what a freakin machine. Georgeous, looks like a lot of fun. Does the leaning forward ever get tiring?
