He knows i have a busa and wanted to show me how he towed his bike (a crusier) for 12hrs. into mexico he had a 2in. square tube put into his receiver and welded a pipe across it he then removed the front wheel installed some pvc for bushings on the tube and put the forks (or axle) across the tube and tightened it down he said he had no problems even on the expressway i cant imagine doing this but do you think it will harm the bike?

no this guy removed the front tire and put the forks across the steel tube with white pvc for spacers and tightened down the bolts wish i had a camera all the weight and stress was one the two caps that hold the wheel in place

My buddy used to tow his old bike like that. Didn't seem to do any harm, but then again he only paid $75 for the bike to begin with.

this thing was completly home made he welded it himself he said it kind of leaned on the turns but pulled straight at speeds

I saw one with the front wheel in the trunk of a car once. 3 tie downs.

I think his invention sounds OK. I wouldn't do it personall thou. Sounds like his invention was perhaps better than pro models. If his bike leaned a bit around corners I would guess that less g-force(less stress) was placed on the bikes stanchion tubes, inner lower leg bearings and steering head bearings. Any wear that would take place would happen on the PVC it being a softer material than the axle shaft bearing shells.

The fact that its a cruiser means it could be belt, chain or shaft drive. Disconnecting the final drive method ensures that the last set of gears in the tranny are not being spun in a possibly oil-free enviroment due to the angle of the tow,or the lack of a spinning oil pump(depending on model).

Would I ever do it? No. Because God invented the pick-up truck for a reason (to haul his bike in,and also to score chicks like Mary Magdalen). LOL.

Funniest bike haul I ever saw? 5 or 6 of went out dirtbiking. We all show up in our trucks with bikes in back, along with all our gear(tools, boots, gas, helmets, chest protectors...you name it.)
Well one of our buddies was kind of a hillbilly(no offence to hillbillies) but this guy was a peice of work. We see a dust cloud coming thru the valley,we hear the tunes cranked(probably Black Sabbath or Motley Crue),O ya,here comes Brian. He pulls up in a mid seventies Plymouth Valiant with his Honda 125 lying on its side, tied ON the trunk lid, with some old rope.

HAHAHA. He procedes to untie it.Then he drinks about 5 or 6 Lucky beers(real cheap shid),smokes a couple of doobies to himself, then procedes to try and keep up. Didn't take long for Ol' Bri to crash and give himself a concussion. What was he wearing? His hillbilly MotoX gear of course. Cowboy boots, ratty jeans,an' old dress shirt, topped off with a Harley type skull cap.

Too funny.

Long read, but I thought you might find it entertaining.

RSD.

You will still have ware and tear on the tires, chain and sprockets. Looks kinda

Yeah ain't no feezing way I would pull my bike like that. It will have to be either on the back of a truck or on a trailer.
