New Zero Gravity Sport Touring Install on K8

BusaMen, Took 30 minutes to install my new Zero Gravity Sport Touring screen. They still do not have this new screen available as their production tooling had some technical problem...but they told me if I wanted to special order it they would make one by hand...I said, "you betcha". No extra cost. It took about 3-4 weeks after order with Z.G. before it came. Immediately the bike was taken for a spin. Took it up to about 85-90 for a minute or two...and I want to say that the wind protection is remarkably improved. I only feel the wind on the part of the shoulders that connect to the arms. On the OEM screen at 80 mph there is a marked wind blast and it gets to be pronounced after being on the bike for an hour. I also have to lean my head into the wind a little bit to stabilize the buffeting on the old screen. With the new screen that is gone. I do not feel any buffeting at all on the helmet. I wear a Shoei x-11. I am 5'9" and 175lbs. I want to say that the screen shoots the wind right over the top of the helmet. I do not feel any "sucking" forward as reported on some screens. I will post sometime this weekend how the mileage has been affected. I was getting 45-48 mpg. I suspect i will lose some....

I want to do some attachments but when I click on the paperclip at the top of the New Thread page is says there is an error on page...bummer...don't have time to do it today...off to work...

Worthless without pics man. Use the Manage attachements icon at the bottom of the new post to upload pics.

BusaMen, here are pics of Zero Gravity Sport Touring screen...the third picture shows me laying the old screen on top of the new screen so you can see height difference...there is no way for me to show the vertical change in the screen. The fourth picture shows the little grommet plug that goes into the hole and through the screen. OEM book says only need to remove these two grommets and screen will slip out....NOT TRUE:rofl: These grommets are in there pretty snug. What I had to do because my hands are not that strong was to remove the Upper panel above the instrument display...which of coarse means you need to loosen the bolts on the display so you can pull loose the upper panel...which means you have to take out the lower panel below the instrument panel...I can get that all done in 7-8 minutes now. You have to push from the inside (interior of cockpit) and turn the grommet and as you pull from the outside (mirror side). They will come out without more than a minute-or two of work...to reinstall I put just a little silicon spray on them and it worked like K-Y jelly on a honeymoon.. Thiry minutes from start to finish...Highly recommend this screen if you are sick of wind blast...2 hip

Holy hannah, thats a hUUUUUUUUUUGE screen. Def think the MPG will go down. Hell, I think an elephant could ride behind that thing and not feel the breeze blowing in his ears.

I think that one picture is an optical illusion...Maybe the camera angle...it really isn't that big of a screen...yes, it is obviously bigger than the OEM but it is not like what you think...let me post another couple of pics...IMO it does not destroy the image of the bike. I also drive 3 hrs round trip to work so wind blast is a significant factor not only in safety but also in comfort. I have alot of rural roads with little traffic so I can keep bike at 70+ for quite awhile...and I am late 50's so not as strong as some of you young grasshoppers....ha ha ha...works for me...2hip

It is huge! May be just the angle, but I think it would deflect wind over your head if you were 7 feet tall. Guess I'll have to stick with my PUIG.

OUTSTANDING, 2hip!! This is precisely what I've been waiting for! :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree:

The only negative I have against the Zero Gravity screens is that they are definitely on the "thin" side with regard to material thickness. Over time (quite a lot of time), this can lead to fatigue cracking.

Regardless, for those of us racking up serious mileage, the ZG Sport Touring screens are a godsend. I had one of these screens on my old Blackbird for many years....

TOHIP,I have ZG touring(clear)on my old busa,I'm over 6',and I find that I get alot of windbuffeting...I guess if your a certain height, the wind will deflect accordingly....but anyhow,I purchased Suzuki's own double bubble for'08'(slight tint with busa logo). It's @
1" higher then stock...In my case, the stock screen has less wind noise then either the ZG
or Suzuki double bubble,and/or ZG Touring,(wind hits me in chest)I've had all 3.ED

Warchild, tell me about your lights mounted on the mirrors? For example, how much electricity do they draw? Are they HID, hallogen, or what? How do you keep from blinding oncoming traffic? Do you have a seperate switch on left hand that you can kill the lights when needed? How do they mount up? Are they Helas? Any info would be appreciated...I drive rural and even though I just installed a low beam HID at 5000 Kelvin (and I am working on trying to figure out how to raise the aim of the light) it still isn't enough...I drive home after midnight in deer country...and some pigs....real pigs...thanks, 2Hip

I like it, is that light smoke color? I've just waiting to have some extra duckets to get one. Had the touring screen on my 05 and loved it!

use guys are killing me....:rofl:or as my wife would say "whatever"....it is funny, though, because I never even once thought it was too big...maybe i need to check the glasses again...ha ha
