Ran into a 19 year old guy at bike night this last weekend that had a 2 month old gix 600. I saw him pull up and said to myself, i've never seen this guy before. I was talking to someone else and just kind of looking around during our conversation, when i looked back at this guys 600 I noticed his chain. It was litterally hanging down. I had a screw driver in my had because i was talking to another new guy about his bike and his bar end was about to fall off so i tighend it up for him. I intruped the guy and blurted out "holy crap!" Half the people there were like what??? I walk over to this 600 and touch his chain with the screwdriver...if i had a ruler i'd say there was at LEAST 2 1/2 inches of slack up and down on this guys chain and not one bit of chain lube or wax. Bike was 2 months old, 1800 miles on it, guy didnt even have a endorsment and i dont remember if he had insurance... We talk some more and he is completely clueless on anything but turning the key and twisting the throttle. Time for a mentor session... we ( me and another guy) talk to this guy for at least 30 mins about MSF, get your endorsment, wear your gear, yada yada... Found out he has the "maintenance plan" on his bike. He said he could take it back to the dealer and get the scheduled maintenance done because of it. We told him, USE IT! He was also making payments on it with almost 17% intrest!!
I have never run into someone so clueless to a motorcycle that was out riding one...

That is the reason why most of the wrecks are with new riders. They think it is cool to have a bike but don't know anything about them. I started to really ride on a 400 Bandit when I was in high school and I could take it apart and put it back blindfolded by the time I sold it.
Thats typical... It's funny, I was talking to a guy at a webstore selling Stem mounts (I won't shame the company by sharing its name) anywho, the dude calls me up confirming the order, and says he owns a busa too. I said, cool, they're a hella bike
Then the dude proceeds to tell me how "tricked out" his bike is, and his friends bikes are and how they all go like 230MPH+... So I say, WOW, what do you have done to your busa man? He's like, Awww, its all tricked out, its got the dual pipes and shid, and some bad azz chip that makes it go 230MPH+... So I ask him how much horse is it pumping out
Dude says "I'm not sure man, but itz bad azz" I'm like thinking to myself what a total SQUID
Then I told him that I wanted to install a supercharger over the winter on my busa, dude was like whats that do
So I said it was like a turbo... He goes on to say, "man be careful, one guy I know he just got convinced his parents to get him the bike, he's 18 (probably his best squid friend) did a burnout at a meet and it "took off" on him and tried to climb a wall, man, busas are bad azz and dangerous!!! " I bust out laughing and told the kid I gotta go, make sure you send me my stem stand...

This is why there are so many parts on e-Bay, it all makes sense know.
I have to tell you that the maufacture is partly at fault because they offered an option to finance through them at a high rate and you can ride off with no insurance, that leaves it to the dealer to not let people buy with out a permit. Like they will lose a sale over that.
