here's the story, i bought a set of plastics from a guy on ebay maybe about 3 months ago. got the stuff and was happy to install it. thing is the guy left the old lock on the gas tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how in heck do i get it out?!?!?! i took out the bolts surrounding it but no good!
i know that this is a delicate subject. if anybody knows but do not want to post please email waespongin@yahoo.com

thanks folks

the easist way is to drill the lock...dont drill all the thru though and get metal shavings inside the tank....after drilling it, you can take a flathead and use it like a key to unfasten the lock. just take your time and start with a small drill bit and step up a size. go thru about 3 or 4 different bits, each one size bigger than the last and that should get it. thats how i did mine

I would be caution when drilling around on the gas tank. Two tihngs come to mind if vapors escape in the vacinity while drilling the hole and ignite by drill bit to metal contact friction or by the drill motor itself. But I'm not expert, just thinking out loud.

Fellas, thanks very much for the reply. i would first like to say Chuck Norris is the man! anyways, just had to let that out!, sorry. looks like i'm going to have to drill this thing out. thank God it has no fuel or fuel vapors in it, hasn't had any fuel in a while from shipping. i would like a locksmith but the language barrier between english and japanese is frustrating and very expensive in japan. the only thing i'm scared off is the drill slipping and messing up my nice Red tank. i'll give it a shot. thanks guys and i'll keep you updated.

Wait, what do you mean translation is difficult into Japanese? Where are you - I ask, becuase I might have an idea....

be very, very careful...even if the tank hasn't had fuel in it for a while, it can still be dangerous

Suzuki shop might have a few keys . I don't know how many they used in the busa.

will take all pre cautions. the location is sasebo, japan.
i think i will try something else before i drill it. must contact my good friend from san diego. (he's a good parent now, learned his lesson back in the early 90's)

Sasebo? You on the Essex? I have several Japanese friends on Atsugi who might be able to do some translated requests for you to locksmiths. If you are interested, send me an email address via PM and maybe we can get a professional to help you out. I worked with 75 MLCs in my last job over there....

MCM, yes i'm on the mighty war ship ESSEX, thanks much for the help. i called my friend last night from san diego. he told me what to make, made it at work since i'm an engineman i put my engineering skills to work. The scary thing is the damn thing works too damn good. I MEAN TOO DAMN SCARY GOOD! i have 3 hayabusas, 03 zx7r, and a buddies new R1 with anti theft key dill things. i used it and ran all of them! it's scary! no wonder he spent 8 years in the hole. broke it in 3 pieces and threw it away. hey ya'll thanks for the help i bow down

he's facial expression doesn't even change! sweeet!

I've drilled about 5 locks out of suzuki tank locks. never had an issue... as someone said... just dont trill all the way thru... better to check often than to check to late
